Objectives: Pupils should be able to:

 Identify and write the different types of poetry ...E.G Haiku, Limerick, Sonnet,
Free Verse
 Describe the types of poetry and provide examples

Prior Knowledge: Pupils are familiar with rhymes, rhythm.

Materials: Text books, Poem

Introduction: Teacher asks the students what is a poem and how does poetry contribute to the
enjoyment.

Development:
Step 1: Teacher allow pupils to present the poems written from last session and discuss
poems.

Step2: Allow students to write the different types of poetry in groups and present to
class. Other students critique poems constructively.

Assessment: Pupils write definitions of poems and state two reasons poetry contributes to
their enjoyment.
