The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the Schools
Division of Iloilo and Dep Ed Regional Office VI - Western Visayas through the Curriculum
and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is developed to guide the learning
facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible adults) in helping the learners meet the standards
set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.
The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to guide the
learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the contextualized
resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in acquiring the lifelong learning
skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and employment.
The FSTLE 7-AFA (Organic Agriculture Production) Activity Sheet will help you
facilitate the teaching learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner.
This will be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease the independent
learning.

Quarter 4- Week 7
Most organic poultry raisers grow chicken for meat production while there are
some who prefer to produce eggs. Native chickens are generally raised in organic
chicken production. The chickens are sold either live or dressed. Chickens to be
sold should be well selected before harvest to meet the needs of the buyers and
consumers.
Native chickens in the local market are classified according to the purpose or
way of cooking:
a. Tamanyo (4-5 months) - 0.8 to 1 kg Live weight good for nilagpang and
tinuom. The meat is soft and pliable.
b. Dumaragahon (6-9 months) - 1 kg to 1.2 kg live weight good for litson or
adobo.
c. Munga or sulog (10 months to more than 1 year) 1.3 kg up to 2 kg live
weight good for nilaga or tinola.
In harvesting chickens, select those that are suitable to the market demand or
needs of customers. Classify your birds accordingly to command better price.
