Lost Wax Casting Project Rubric-

I Completed 2 wax forms- both a subtractive wax form and an additive wax model.
Paste in a clear , easy to see photo of each below:
-Additive wax form photo-
-Subtractive wax form photo-
Reflect on:
Tell me two things you are pleased with in specifics about your final Lost wax cast project…
1 The shape of the eyes and the overall shape

2 the eyes like being carved out

Tell me two things that were very challenging or could be better…

1 getting the scratches out

2 smoothing out the inside of the eyes

Grade Rubric -Rate yourself based on these criteria.

10 10/ 10 Wax experimentation - I made 2 ring forms in wax. Yes or no?- one additive, one subtractive
(photos added) They follow weight restrictions (,less 2 Grams) and have been smoothed and carefully
made, they fit all project requirements.

3 3/ 3 I answered all reflection questions and added several clear photos

---------*** If my wax mold blew up in the kiln, I did an alternate project. Please describe yours briefly.

4 4/ 5 Creativity & Complexity in Design (of my best design) –high challenge level, 3D quality of carving,
cuts, and additions to wax form. My design should not have simply been made even thickness like sheet
metal.
4 4 / 5 Craftsmanship of the final best wax model- its overall neatness. High attention to detail on
finishing metal work... filing rough areas, buffing flaws.

4 4 / 5 Effort given to improve & further experiment in design, in wax, and in refining finish work or
alternate project if needed . I was persistent and I was open to input.

My finished Final piece=

7 6 / 8 Craftsmanship of finish work- sanding, polishing and filing after the cast into metal. Filed out all
evidence of the sprue wax prongs , no longer apparent.

Deveral clear photos as .jepg to the assignment of bothe the wax forms and of the final
ring polished up. ( or the alternate project)
