Issues and The Media

There are different issues today that a lot of people are encountering or
have come up against for a time in their lives. These issues whether it’ll be political,
economical, or social, one way or another had an impact on one's lives. Furthermore, the
media has become a platform for everyone to verbalize their opinions and have them
express themselves. But how can we openly voice out these issues without violating any
legal or ethical use of the media?

One issue that has been a problem and is very relevant up to this date is
abuse. Based on an article, abuse is the excessive or rather improper usage or treatment of
a thing to unfairly gain benefit. Abuse comes in different forms, this can either be through
physical or verbal maltreatment, assault violation, rape, or any types of aggression is a
negative example of this issue. We could recognize abuse by these patterns of their
behaviour to have or gain power and control over someone, often to a loved one. To express
this out online or to the media, when informing, include citations of references that are
reliable and trusted. This would support your statements and would ensure accuracy of what
you are telling to your intended audience. Moreover, including citations or the person whom
you got your idea from, would avoid certain violations such as plagiarism and would
strengthen your claim. With regards to laying out your opinions, be aware that this is
sensitive for some people who have gone through or are currently going through the same
situation. We should educate ourselves and set boundaries on how our statements might
appear and affect other people and stick with arguments without having to harm someone
verbally.

The media can be harsh to these issues that is why practicing online or
media etiquettes could properly address issues without the worry of cyberbullying. It’s
important for everyone to be aware of laws that apply to what they do online to avoid
violating these legal uses of media. We have to keep in mind that what we put out there
could be their basis of information, so might as well give them one that is accurate, reliable,
and valid.
