Task 2.1.

2: Video as a Mode of Communication View a video conference from YouTube titled “A video
conference call in real life” by Tripp and Tyler.[ https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=DYu_bGbZiiQ]
Then, answer the following questions:

1. What was the topic of the video conference?

 The topic of the video conference was about financial report

2. Who were the participants? Where were they from?

 Tripp, Beth, Tyler, Jon, Paul, and David. The participants were from US in their respective homes,
some were in motels while others are stuck in traffics.

3. How was the flow of the video conference?

 They can't get to talk properly because of their own circumstance. Someone is having a bad
internet and someone is not yet knowledgeable about the online meetings. The someone is
distracted, because there's a lot of things you can do in the internet. Therefore, it is safe to say
the flow is bad given that they can't communicate properly causing them to not understand
each other.

4. Were there some technical glitches encountered? Were they resolved immediately?

 Yes, there's a lot of technical glitches and problem encountered in the video. It's like the context
of the video is about those problems. Someone is distracted, another one is in the bad place for
calls, as well as the lagging that somebody else is experiencing. The problems was also not
resolved quickly which constitutes to the totality of them not being able to communicate
properly

5. After viewing the sample video conference, what do you think are some of the constraints of
this communication mode?

 Some of the constraints in this kind of communication mode would be the poor connection or
unstable network. Thus, it’s much easier to do a face to face or normal meeting. Given that not
all people have a strong connection or rather has the knowledge to use technology. I personally
thing that video conference is just for the people who’s separated by distance and is informed
enough to utilize them. For example, we may engage in a conversation via Skype with our loved
ones especially during significant, meaningful or memorable occasions. But for instances such as
classes or company meeting then video mode is not preferable since we may not know if the
internet connection will suddenly become unstable.
