DESCRIPTION
General Mathematics 2 focuses on solving polynomial expressions and equations, quadratic inequalities and modulus
functions, and study of special functions and its graphs and exponential and logarithmic functions. Mathematical ideas
are built on; methods and techniques are formulated and rediscovered; and conjectures are verified. The course
provides basic principles in a deeper scope and introduces new concepts and skills that are important to continuing
threads throughout the Mathematics program.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course in General Mathematics 2, the students should be able to:
1. demonstrate a deeper understanding and appreciation of the nature and significance of the language of Algebra;
2. understand the concepts and skills involving polynomial expressions and equations, quadratic inequalities and
modulus functions, special functions and its graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, and apply learned
concepts and acquired skills to real-life situations.
3. show initiative to look for mathematical patterns, discover relationships, form and test generalizations and
approach mathematical problems systematically.
4. develop critical thinking, reasoning, communication, and modeling skills through mathematical approach to
problem solving.
5. display proper attitudes and values such as cooperation, honesty and trustworthiness, neatness, accuracy,
orderliness and organization; perseverance and persistence in understanding and completing tasks; respect and
concern for others; gratitude for one's giftedness by sharing time and expertise with peers and values that support
the thrust of Transformative Education JEEPGY in the department.
