opportunity to express our deep sense of gratitude to all those who have contributed significantly
by sharing their knowledge and experience in the completion of this project work.

Our heartfelt thanks to our respected faculty and mentor, Dr Wahab Suri, without his continuous

Lastly we are thankful to PAF-KIET for providing us with all support which helped us to
complete this project duly.

Introduction

“Helping one person might not change

the whole world, but it could change the
world for that person”- Buddha
Keeping this quote in mind we as a group of 3 started to think for our project, we defined
mission and vision for our cause, which area as follows:

Mission: To help the people in need with good quality recycled resources other than providing
financial resources like money.

Vision: Making a chain of recycled products which are available freely for the people in need
worldwide.

With a lot of ideas and research we were finally able to put our plan into action.

Identification of the Leakage.

In Pakistan we have a lot of tailors nearly every established area have 3 to 4 tailors shops for
ladies and gents.
We decided to visit the tailors and ask them what they do of the cuttings which are left from
making their dresses and etc. All of them answered the same that they throw it away its waste of
them.
The pieces of clothes which they throw away are very good quality and clean, this we identified
as a leakage of useful material as these cuttings are just thrown in the garbage and later burned.
Examples of the cuttings thrown and burned are as follows:

Our long and tough process of collection of these materials started by firstly, asking permission ofwastage
these of
materials
tailors, surprisingly for us they all agreed and provided us with lots of cuttings. Most of them were very
kind and offered us extra stuff for give away for example returned clothes, when we mentioned them
that we want to make something for the poor society.

collection.

Conversion to useable necessity

After detailed analysis of our collected materials we got into a debate of what things to make, we
wanted to make things which are useful and also do not require any cost. The result of this
debate ended fruitfully and we covered these cuttings into soft good quality pillows.

Challenges faced with conversion process.

We needed pillow covers to stuff the cuttings in, thus we asked the tailors to help us in making
pillows too, and at 1st they wanted to charge us for the process but later when they saw our good
intention to serve humanity they decided to do it for free.
We collected not in use old bed sheets from our homes and gave them to the tailors and within 3
to 5 days our totally recycled good quality pillows were ready.

(Bed sheets collection)

Whole of the process of making pillow covers and then stuffing them with cuttings was given to
the tailors as they agreed to do this work in a very minimum fee. We wanted good quality items
and only tailors were able to provide us with quality stitching. The end result was better than our
expectations with the collection we made we were able to make 20+ good quality pillows.

Reintegrate Deprived Section of Society.

We decided to distribute these pillows to the needy, and as all charity begins at home we 1st gave
these pillows to our maids and workers who were in need of them.

Our Learning and Conclusion.

This was one of our best projects yet in which we learned various lessons. To start with, that it is
not necessary to help others financially we can do a lot of other things by making use of the
surrounding resources. Furthermore, our one step towards a good cause opened so many doors
for us to help people even more, for example, the tailors decided to charge no fees for us and
providing us with extra bed sheets to be reused if they had. Last but not the least we would also
like to add that we felt that the needy people were really looking to get help in such a way
because as soon as we asked them if they needed pillows they agreed immediately, by this we
can analyze that there is a huge need of such products in our society.
God willing in future we would like to carry on with this work for the sake of Almighty.
