Day 1 – Task 1: Introduction to Bread, Cakes and Pastries


1. Access the basic knowledge and understanding of participants
2. Identify proper clothing, hygiene and basic tools required for baking.
3. Identify ingredients and apply baking principles
Tools and Materials Required:
Tools: - Pen and Notebook
Materials/Ingredients: - No ingredients required

Instructions:
Introduction to Basic Health and Safety – Understand the role health and safety plays in the
kitchen area. Identify proper cooling and storage techniques
Introduction to Basic Baking Tools– Must have baking tools and baking definition, scaling
and measuring together with mixing methods.

Handouts: Safety In the Kitchen, Personal Cleanliness, Fire Safety.

Assignment: Write a brief description about yourself, why you are interested in this class,
hobbies and likes starting with 'My Name Is…'
