SEPTEMBER 13, 2022/ 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Facilitators: Sir Christian (Grade 12)

Description and objectives: The aim of this competition is to challenge students to design and construct
model towers out of bond papers. Their strategic skills will be measured by considering the tower's height, stability,
and strength to withstand any external forces that are present in the surrounding.

Materials:
-Four pieces of 8.5” x 11” 20 lb.
-30 cm of scotch tape rolled in a marker
-Scissors
-Meter Stick
-Pencil and extra sheet for sketching

Sample Outputs:

Mechanics:

1. This contest is open for all SHS students of MOREH ACADEMY. Each strand/ per year level
will build a team composed of 3 members.

There are no permitted materials or substitutes.
3. The time allotted to each contestant is 15 minutes for designing and drawing the design of their tower and
45 minutes for building it. Any alterations made to the tower after the allocated 45 minutes will render the tower
ineligible. After the 45-minute contest period has started, late-arriving students may participate at any time,
but they must quit when everyone else does. Late arrivals will not receive any additional time.
4. Each tower must stand alone; it can't be tied to anything else or lean against anything else
(e.g., floor, wall, desk, etc.).
5. Towers will be measured vertically from the floor to their tallest point, whether they are curled
or sagging or standing straight and upright. Towers that sag or curve are measured to the highest point
while sagging or curving rather than being straightened first.
6. Contestants must notify the judge when construction of tower is completed.
7. Once the contestants' towers are constructed and prepared for measurement, they must tell the judges.
8. Towers must stand for 10 seconds upon arrival of judges.

8. SCIENCE INVESTIGATORY RESEARCH/PROJECT

It is science – based research project or study that is performed by the students.
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
SEPTEMBER 26, 2022 SEPTEMBER 26, 2022 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Facilitator: JHS Teachers Facilitator: Grade 11 SHS Teachers
SEPTEMBER 26, 2022 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Facilitator: Grade 12 SHS Teachers
OBJECTIVES:
1. This aimed to provide students with an engaging way and develop their interest
to learn more about performing or conducting scientific research or project.

GUIDELINES:

1. This contest is open for Junior High School to Senior High School of MOREH Academy.
2. The Science investigatory project must have 3 (three) participants per section.
3. The Science investigatory project/research composed of:
• TITLE
The title of your project should be catchy but it should also describe the project
well enough that people reading your report can quickly figure out what you were studying.
You will want to write your title and background sections after you have
come up with a good question to study.
• ABSTRACT
It is a short paragraph of not more than 500 words which gives the important
aspects/features of the study. This should include a very brief background, purpose,
hypothesis, procedures, results and conclusion.
• BACKGROUND OR PURPOSE
The background section is where you include information that you already know
about your subject and/or tell your project readers why you choose the project you did.
What were you hoping to find out from the project.
• THE PROBLEM
The most difficult part of a science fair project is coming up with a good subject to research.
Think about WHAT INTERESTS you and think of a TESTABLE QUESTION about the subject.
If you are doing a project on something that interests you, you will likely enjoy the research
more and stick with it long enough to get some good data. Remember, you are being a scientist.
• MATERIALS AND METHODS
Once you have come up with a question that you can actually test with materials
at your disposal, you need to figure out how to set up the tests.
If you will need a chart to write down you test results, get it made.
If you take the time to make it look nice with a straight – edge,
you can include the actual chart or survey instrument in your project write – up.
• DATA
The results section is where you tell you reader the actual numbers (or other data)
that you got as you were doing the experiment. You might also include a graph, if your data lends
itself to it.
• CONCLUSION
In the conclusion, you finally get to tell your readers what you found out from the
experiment, or how you interpret your data. This section should be focused on what you learned
about your original question and hypothesis.
• RECOMMENDATION
List ways to improve your experiments and cite suggestions on how you could have
better results
• REFERENCE
List the books, websites and other materials that you use in making this project and be specific.
