Chapter 3

Research Methodology

This chapter covers the research design, population and sampling,

instrumentation, research procedure, in addition to that, the statistical treatment of

data.

Research Design

This study follows the quantitative research design. Quantitative research is

defined as a systematic investigation of phenomena by gathering quantifiable data

and performing statistical, mathematical, or computational techniques. “Quantitative

research collects information from existing and potential customers using sampling

methods and sending out online surveys, online polls, questionnaires, etc., the

results of which can be depicted in the form of numerical.” (Quantitative Research:

Definition, Methods, Types and Examples, n.d.).

Population and Sampling

The method used in sampling is simple random sampling (SRS). The

participants of the research were selected randomly to take part in the study and

answer queries related to the study.

The samples were taken from the junior high school population of Montessori

Integrated School in Antipolo, Rizal.

Instrumentation

The researchers have curated a questionnaire which was given to the

randomly selected sample who will participate in this study. The questionnaire has

no right or wrong answers, as it was curated in order to let the researchers

understand about each of the participants’ own opinion/experience.

The questionnaire consists of twenty-three (23) items which mostly consists of

choices such as:

Yes or No

Excellent, Somewhat good, Average, Somewhat poor, Poor, Not certain

Never, Once in a while, About half the time, Most of the time, Always

Research Procedure

The process of which the researchers are to follow is the following:

1. The researchers craft a questionnaire with questions that will help in the

results of the study;

2. Said questionnaires will be distributed to the pupils of different grade levels

that will be ranging from grades 7 to 10 who are part of the sample which will

be chosen at random;

3. The results of the research will be collected and incorporated into the study;

4. The results shall be done with the implementation of those listed in the

statistical treatment of data.

5. The data shall be used in creating the conclusion of the study.

Statistical Treatment of Data

The following statistical instruments were implemented:

1. Slovin’s formula was used to aid the researchers in predicting the accuracy of

the results of the study.

N
n= 2❑
(1+ N e )

2. Measures of Central Tendency: the measures of central tendency were used

in order to find the results which will be used in the study.
