Case No. 6- Test Scores VS Letter of Recommendation

1. Should Meldy disregard the test scores and hire Aileen?

 Pre-employment testing and assessment is one of the most objective ways of

predicting job performance and company fit. It consists in the use of tests
and questionnaires to assess candidates in terms of a wide range of aspects
such as cognitive ability, critical thinking skills, personality, preferences and
motivation, among many others. Well - designed and scientifically validated
tests are a reliable and objective way of assessing candidates and they
provide concrete results that can be standardized across all applicants.
Recruiters can use test results to make better informed and more defensible
hiring decisions. The use of pre-employment test and assessment by both
large and small companies is significantly increasing year by year. Meldy
should not disregard the test scores of Aileen. The test scores are based on
the standardized employment and personality testing of the company. The
test scores are a very important component in determining and hiring best fit
employees for a certain job vacancy. I believe that Mr. Joseph will surely
understand and greatly appreciate when Meldy makes a very thorough
explanation about the hiring process that needs to be considered. Hence,
Meldy may even suggest to Mr. Joseph that Aileen maybe considered in
other job opening of the company that would best suit her. Moreover, the
test scores are indications of job fit, work ethic, integrity, aptitude, and core
competencies which will result to a reduced employee turnover and hire a
highly motivated and compatible workforce. I believe that Mr. Joseph will
fully understand this matter. Aileen may be good, hardworking and honest as
a babysitter but maybe the job vacancy would be a different story for her. I
would suggest for a more suitable job opening would be given to her when
the need arises for the company and that time, she would be given a priority.

2. Would it be kind to Aileen to hire her or not to hire her?

 Assessment tests are specially developed to measure the capabilities and

gather significant information about a candidate 's personality, skills, and
ability. Most commonly, these tests help identify how well a candidate is
likely to perform on the job. While an aptitude test can help measure how
well an employee might grow in their new role and how quickly they learn
new skills, a personality test evaluates how well the candidate 's personality
is likely to fit the job. It does this by measuring traits such as
conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and more.
