Aim: To detect the carbohydrate and protein in the given sample Salt sample 1

1. Test for Carbohydrate


Fehling’s Test: - Take Given sample in a
test tube and add Fehling solution A and No reddish brown PPT formed Carbohydrate absent
B in equal amount, then test tube warm
in water bath for five minutes.
2. Test for Protein
Biuret Test:- Take Given sample in a test
tube and add few drops of 1% copper Deep blue coloration or PPT Protein present
sulphate solution now add conc. NaOH
solution
Xanthoprotic Test:- Take given sample in
a test tube and add conc. HNO3 , then Protein present
Yellow PPT formed
warm in water bath for five minutes
Result :- Given food stuff is protein

Oranges coloration or PPT
of Benedict’s Reagents, than test tube Carbohydrate present
warm in water bath for five minutes
Result :- Given food stuff is carbohydrate
