By enumerating those concrete steps to make shows your rationality as a
human being. Being rational means you are philosophical as well in your
own simple way. I hope you realized how important philosophy is in your
everyday life. “Know thyself”, says Socrates.

To culminate our topics, let us make a comprehensive philosophical application of what

we gained in the lessons.
Task 12.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disturbed the life of every human being. As rational being, we can
reflect about this reality from the lens of rational thinking. Read and reflect the article written by
Fr. Ortega and other reflections above. Write an article critique, also known as a response
paper, which is a formal evaluation of an article or another type of literary or scientific content.
Your main goal is to show whether or not the writer provided reasonable arguments and facts
for their main points. Consider the following points in making your philosophical critique: (15
points)

 Instead of simply summarizing the main points of the article, you must critique them.
You must not offer a mere summary of the research articles above. Your teacher wants
your unique opinion and discussion.
 You should provide not only your impressions of the article, but evidence that backs
them up as well.
 In addition to identifying the main idea of the article, you should also clarify its
background and purpose.
 Most of all, you’ll focus on the issues this article raises, as well as the ones it avoids.

VII. Notes to teachers:
o The MELC is subdivided into two main topics namely: Philosophical Reflection
focus on Existentialism and On Attaining a Comprehensive Outlook in Life thus
separate learning activity sheets (LAS) were prepared.
o Each subject matter has corresponding concept notes followed by activities.
o The activities did not follow the pattern having at least three activities for easy,
moderate challenging and enrichment. The degree of difficulty per activity
suffices as this will be reflected in the rubrics that will be used.
o The first part of the activity (Philosophical Reflection) provides the learners with
concepts while the second part immerses the learners into pure and actual
process of reflection. Thus, the activities were designed for this purpose.
o The last set of activities were also meant as “debriefing activities” to ease some
negative thoughts and feelings about the pandemic.
