In this session we are going to be thinking about activities or games that


people do during their free time and the reason behind them.

We are also going to be thinking about the activities that we did during
our free time during our childhood days, as well as activities that our
parents or older relatives used to enjoy during their free time in high
school.

2. Then and Now
A. List down activities that you enjoy doing during your free time when you were
in Shougakkou and now that you are in Koukou. Write your answers on the Venn
diagram below.
How to answer the Venn diagram:
1. Write activities that you did in shougakkou on the left side of the diagram.

2. Write activities that you do now in koukou on the right side of the diagram.

3. If there are activities that you enjoy doing in shougakkou, that you still enjoy
doing now in koukou, write them in the middle part of the diagram.

4. Use as many nihongo expressions as you can.

Do you enjoy the same activities that you parents or older relatives
enjoyed during their free time when they were in koukou? Why do you
think they are different?

That’s right! Because of changes in our environment and


surroundings, we are introduced to different things and places that
capture our interest. Unlike before when people used to hang out
in parks, rivers, and beaches, now people prefer to hang out at
malls or computer shops.

Also, because of the advancement of technology, we now get to do


things with technology that were not available during the time of our
parents and older relatives, like playing computer games and surfing
the internet. Before they were only able to enjoy outdoor games and
activities with friends.

3. In the Future
Five or ten years from now, what activities do you think would you enjoy doing during
your free time? Write about it or make an illustration explaining the activity in the space
provided below:

Objectives

I was able to think about and compare activities that I used to enjoy
