maintain a very high volume of exercise may, as a result of greater production of reactive oxygen species
(ROS), be particularly susceptible to oxidative damage.

Materials and method

Thirteen male and three female ultraendurance triathletes who were training to compete in a half
Ironman triathlon were recruited into the study 4 wk before the event. Subjects were (mean T SD) 29.8 T
7 yr of age, had a cycling V˙ O2peak of 65.4 T 5.8 mLIkgj1 Iminj1 , and were undertaking medium- to
high-intensity training 14.5 T 3.4 hIwkj1 .

Gumamela

Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.), locally known as gumamela is a malvaceous ornamental plant with
many colors, sizes and shapes and often referred to as the “queen of the Filipino garden”.
