"FULLDAY SCHOOL POLICY"

Najwa : Assalamualaikum wrwb, good morning greetings to all of us. Let me introduce
myself. My name is Najwa Azzahra as the pro team's first speaker. The topic we want
to discuss today is "full day school policy".
Full day school is a school education system that is carried out all day long.
Students have a study schedule from morning to evening. Quoting from Kompas in
2016, According to the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Muhadjir
Effendy, with this full day school system, students will slowly develop their
character and not run wild outside school when their parents are still not home
from work. Full day schools have a good goal, namely, to build the character of
students and prevent students from wild behavior when they are not at school when
their parents are still not home from work. This system has been widely proven in
several European countries. The implementation of a full day school itself will be
implemented by schools that are deemed ready to face changes in teaching and
learning patterns that are different from before.
I agree with the full day school policy because the full day school intended by the
government is not a formal teaching and learning process in general, but upholds
character education for students. With the existence of a full day school, it is
hoped that it can minimize the deviant behavior of adolescents who indirectly act
in the name of even demeaning the value of education in Indonesia.

Ida : Good morning everyone, let's me introduce myself. My name is As the first
speaker of the team.
As a cons team, I do not agree with the full day school. As the pro speaker said,
that "children have a study schedule from morning to evening". It will make
children stressed and they have less rest. In the release of Permendikbud Number 23
of 2017, it is explained that a full day of school means that the school day must
last 8 hours per day from Monday to Friday, with a break duration every two hours,
after which school activities continue with the organization.
The question is "when can we do the school assignments that have been given by the
teacher?" Even when going home from school is not possible, because the many
activities that have been carried out at school make us tired and need rest.
In addition, the pro team said that "the full day of school is expected to minimize
the deviant behavior of adolescents who indirectly act in the name of even
demeaning the value of education in Indonesia". I do not agree with this because we
cannot only get the learning process in the classroom, it can be like at home or in
the community. Students can understand more deeply the social phenomena that exist
in the community directly, not only theoretically. The role of parents is very
important in the development of a child's character. Parents can also participate
in the development of a child's character.

Rizki : thank you for the opinion given by the cons team, I Ardiansyah Rizki Arqom
as the second speaker from the pro team, disagree with you who quoted that children
will not be able to do the assignments or homework given by the school. The article
according to the minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Muhadjir Effendy, he
believes that the plan to implement five school days or full day school (FDS) will
not burden students. because, students will not be in the classroom for eight hours
a day and given lessons constantly. and there is a rule from the Ministry of
Education and Culture, that schools that implement Full Day Schools no longer
burden students with homework. and as explained by the pro team's first speaker,
one of the goals of the one-day school is to ensure that children are prevented
from negative activities outside of school. Moreover, not all parents have time to
supervise their children after school. After school hours are over, chances are the
child will still spend his time participating in extracurricular activities in the
school environment and also remain under the supervision of the teacher, so that
parents who don't have much time at home or work need not worry.

Aulia : To the responses that have been submitted by the pro team, I Aulia Dyah
Marshanda As the speaker of the contra teams disagree with the opinions that have
been conveyed by the pro team. This is because even though full day school is only
designed for five school-days, full day school is still not effective to implement.
Because a full day of school makes children less social with the environment. In
addition, the existence of this policy imposes a mental and physical burden. As
stated by the first speaker, "because of the many activities that have been carried
out at school, we become tired and need rest". On the other hand, there is also a
shift from the 13th curriculum to the independent curriculum. This has its own
impact, namely, the quality of education can decrease and changes in curriculum
development so quickly can result in new problems such as decreased child
achievement. This is because children cannot adapt to the learning system in the
implemented curriculum development. Apart from that, full day school makes children
easily bored at school, especially elementary school students. A child must still
have the instinct to play.

Chinta : Good morning teachers and friends, I am Chinta Pamela Putri as the third
speaker for the pro team to conclude what points the pro team has previously made.
The topic for our debate this time is the full day school policy. We, as an
affirmative team, believe that our statements are true. we have a rebuttal to the
first speaker of the cons team, who said that full day school makes children unable
to do the assignments or homework that has been given This is wrong because
according to the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Muhadjir Effendy he
believes the plan to implement five day school or full day school (FDS) will not
burden students. and there is a rule from the Ministry of Education and Culture,
that schools that implement Full Day Schools no longer burden students with
homework. According to our team, Full day school is a solution in maximizing the
potential of students both in the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains
because students will have more time to study. With the enactment of full day
school students will be able to channel their talents and interests through
extracurricular activities, this will enable students to maximize their talents and
become a support in the formation of students' character.

Galih : greeting to you all, introduce my name is Galih Prasetya Utama as the
counter team. I want to conclude the important points that have been conveyed by
our team.
With the topic of the "full day school policy" debate that we have discussed, we
have a rebuttal to the affirmative team which states "children have a study
schedule from morning to evening" with the idea of full day school based on theory
which states that study time is the most optimal for children is 3-4 hours a day in
a formal setting and 7-8 hours a day in an informal setting. However, the available
field data suggests otherwise. In fact, the long duration of school does not
necessarily reflect academic results that are in line with it as well. The average
score shown by Indonesian students after studying non-stop for 8 hours is still
lower than Singapore students who incidentally only study 5 hours. With full day
school activities, all students can be fully mobilized to understand the endless
"invasion" of new information. students are also forced to undergo long routines,
moreover students also get minimal time to rest and play because they are required
to take part in various additional activities outside of school, including
extracurricular activities and tutoring. This will gradually overwhelm and
overwhelm the brain, making students prone to stress. I think that's enough, thank
you very much.
