We watch over 600 hectares of forest SITS HARIBON FOUNDATION WITH

The community-based forest
management agreement (CBFMA)
started in 1999, and we were
accredited in 2000. In 2012, we
started working with Haribon on
forest restoration projects. Through
these projects, we gained a lot of new
experiences, and we became one of
the groups guarding the forests.

is a community group that volunteers
to engage in forest monitoring and
development.
They are deputized to assist in
patrolling, reporting, and
implementing conservation efforts in

The Citizen’s Action for Monitoring
Ecosystems (CAME) is a participatory
system of monitoring and reporting of
current forest conditions with
stakeholders so that the relevant
authorities can take action.
In protected areas, DENR enforces
the laws, but outside the protected
areas, there are other important
ecosystems or forest ecosystems that https://haribon.org.ph/forest-

organizations come in to help
monitor the current condition of the
local forests and biodiversity.

There were three sites, including Mt.
Irid-Angelo in General Nakar and
Infanta, Quezon, Mt. Siburan in
Sablayan, and Mt. Hilong-Hilong in
Lanuza, Surigao del Sur, where the
CAME system was piloted.

The Ka-Patrol App adopted these
three concepts, and can be seen as

When the bantay gubat apprehends a
violator and reports it, the DENR or
local authorities should respond
within the day or the next day. That’s
how fast our response time should
be.
While practicing and learning how to
use the CAME (Ka-Patrol App), we
realized that it is user-friendly.

Someone reported that there was a
large kaingin area in the forest. We
knew it was kaingin only, but when
we arrived at the site, we were
shocked to find that so many big trees
were cut down. We took pictures and
videos using the Ka-Patrol App and
synced them to send the report.
