1 Planning

1.1 Subject-matter of the measure

The activity is to create a series of content centered on governance, politics and
leadership. The content will be in video format where 2 individuals, a male and a
female participant sit together to discuss and share their views on any given topic
that falls under the category described above. The platforms where the videos will
be uploaded for public viewing will be on YouTube and Facebook, as well as short
previews on Instagram and Twitter. Politics with Grace and John will address the
current apathy in matters politics especially among Kenyan youth population.
Currently many Kenyan youths are disinterested in engaging in political
conversations because there are little or no ideal safe spaces where politics
conversations are been discussed.

1.2 Impact of the measure / contribution to achieving the project objectives

This series of content is aimed at sparking an open conversation about governance,
politics and leadership in our Country. The desired outcome is that this series will
be able to draw engagement in issues affecting the Kenyan youth while
representing their views and understanding of different topics within the scope of
governance, politics and leadership. Politics with Grace and John will serve as a
mouthpiece and this we will achieve by introducing a segment in the show where
we give an opportunity to Kenyan youth to contribute to the conversation in every
episode. The reason for allowing contributions from the youth is so as to create an
opportunity for them to be part of the conversation. English and Kiswahili will be
used to allow for easier understanding. The topics will be simplified in a way that
allows youth who are not too much enthusiastic about such topics to be able to
watch and not feel left out. The selection of the topics will be strategic so that a
pattern is established in the flow of the episodes.

1.3 Methods for monitoring the impact of the measures

One of the ways we will be able to monitor is by considering the views and
comments for every episode. The other way will be to formulate a question at the
end of every episode asking the viewer whether the content was helpful, if they
learnt something new and asking whether they would recommend the episode to
their friends. These questions will be linked to a Google form, which will be in the
description part of the video in Youtube or included in the caption for social media
users.

1.4 Target group and justification

The youth form the largest population of Kenyans and in 2022 general election the
youth vote will be vital and therefore they wield the power to change the face of
leadership in this Country. Our believe is that Politics with Grace and John is timely
and necessary because it will be a reflection of ordinary youth coming together to
candid talks that will shape the future of Kenyan youth mindsets.

1.5 1.5 Methodology for implementing the activity (seminar with lectures, forum
with plenary and discussions, social media/ or zoom seminar, local radio talks etc)
