4.1 Introductory Activity ( 8 Prayer, Checking of Attendance, Reminding of the art materials that I let them bring and Review of

-We had already discussed the different elements and principles of art, so let us have a review of
the different elements and principles of art.
As a review, the teacher presented pictures and the students will determine what element and
principles of art is depicted in the picture. The pictures will be flash on the screen.
Note: Pictures are taken from www.google.com

4.2 Activity ( 8 mins)

Take a look at the picture.


1. What have you seen in the picture? Name the objects that you have seen, it could be objects
that are part of the picture or the picture as a whole.

Expected Answer:
I’ve seen different colors, lines, shapes, texture, a picture of a fish, a picture of a sarimanok.
All of the answers given are correct.

4.2 Analysis (4 minutes) 1. Is the picture a contemporary artwork? Is the picture contemporary artwork?
Expected Answer: Yes because It showed a uniqueness using the elements and principles of art.
(students explains the different elements and principles combined in the artwork that makes it
contemporary)
2. How can the comprehension of the elements and principles of art empowers us in evaluating
contemporary art?
Expected Answer: The contemporary artist translate the different principles and elements of art to
their work as what we have observed on the different art forms nowadays.

43 Abstraction (10 minutes) Each of the principles and elements of art leaves an important details in our contemporary artist
nowadays.

 Elements serves as ingredients in making an artwork

Principles

 Serves as the process in making an artwork. It serves as building blocks that puts together
to create an artwork.
And artist translates these principles and elements of arts to create a new contemporary art forms.
These are the following;

1. APPROPRIATION
 When an artist create a New
work of art by taking pre -
existing image from other
sources and modifies and/or
incorporates those new images
with new ones
 By appropriation, the
contemporary art revives
interest to existing form of art

The above painting was a painting of F. Amorsolo-Luisa and was appropriated by a contemporary
artist ANNA BAUTISTA. She appropriated the painting with an LV bag.

2. HYBRIDITY
 Hybridity in contemporary arts
is the mixing of unlikely
materials to produce an
artwork.
 Used in artist’s work of blending
of new or unusual materials
with traditional mediums.
 The incorporation of these
materials, such as recycled or
industrial materials, plays an
important role in the meaning of
the artwork.

3. PERFORMANCE
 Refers to artwork created by or
presented to an audience.
 Performance as an element can
also include the processes used
by the artist to create the work.
 Takes place when the process
used to create the artwork is
more important than the finished
work itself.
4 SPACE

Arts transforming space


refers to distance or areas
surrounding and within
the components of an
item. Example: flash mobs,
art installations in malls or
public places

5 TECHNOLOGY

How are these principles of contemporary art applied in our daily


lives?
In answering the question, the teacher will give a Quote;
Teacher gets ideas from the class about the quote.

Expected Answer from the class: As what we have learn earlier,the quote simply imply that each
of the element and principles of art leaves a particular detail that is beyond the particular whole.
The contemporary masterpieces not just expresses a single thought but also expresses a whole,
meaning as a student in creating our artwork based from the elements and principles, WE SHOULD
CREATE AN ART THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE LARGER WHOLE THAT GOES BEYOND THAT PIECE OF
PAPER YOU ARE USING IN YOUR ARTWORK. CREATE AN ARTWORK NOT JUST FOR YOUR SELF
EXPRESSION BUT ALSO BENEFICIAL TO THE LARGER WHOLE.

4.4 Application (20 minutes) Individual activity( Use Short Bondpaper)

Using only your FIRST NAME, create an artwork that highlights on of the ART ELEMENTS and
Principles that you have learn from our discussion.
Take a shot of your work and post it in your Social Media account with the hashtag
#mycreation.
Note:

2. After posting the artwork, you can also tag me for grades purposes.

Artwork Criteria:
Originality and Creativity – 30%
Clarity ( an element/principle should be visible) – 30%
Appeal to Audience – 10%
Total – 60%
