LESSON PLAN IN CONTEMPORARY PHILIPPINE ARTS FROM THE REGIONS


Grade 12 - Pascal

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
a. identify the works of national artists; and
b. recognize the contributions of national artists to Philippine art.

II. Content
 Subject Matter: National Artists of the Philippines
Subtopic: National Artists in Literature, Film, Architecture, and Fashion Design
 References: Contemporary Philippine Arts From the Regions : Flaudette May Datuin;
Roberto Paulino; Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez; Louise Marcelino, pp 65-72
 Materials: Visual aids, cut-out strips, laptop, pictures

III. Procedure
1. Preliminary Activities
*Opening Prayer
*Checking of Attendance
*Classroom Management
*Recall the lesson.
What are the roles and contributions of the national artists in Music, Dance,
Theatre, and Visual Arts?
2. Motivation
Photo Collage
The teacher will post a collage showing the faces of the National Artists of the
Philippines. Students will try to distinguish some of the faces.

3. Activity
Group Activity. Students will be grouped into 4 and they will present their works
in creative and artistic way. They will discuss and explain their work using this table.

Guide Questions:
a. Who are the national artists in Literature, Film, Architecture, and Fashion
Design?
b. What are their most important contributions in the country? Give some
example.
c. Why do we need to know the different contemporary arts and artists in the
Philippines?
5. Generalization
Who are the national Filipino artists who contribute to contemporary arts in the
Philippines? What are their contributions in Literature, Film, Architecture, and Fashion
Design? How are we going to accredit their works?
6. Application
The teacher will call students to provide their insights on the artists and their
works that exist nowadays. They will be tasked to summarize the report of each
group.
7. Values Integration
Students must learn how to preserve the artworks contributed to the Philippines
and the artists behind those arts must be given recognition.

IV. Evaluation
Explain Filipino artists’ roles and identify their contributions to the following
contemporary art forms.
1. Literature
2. Film
3. Architecture
4. Fashion Design
V. Assignment
Students must submit a compilation of different Filipino artists and their artworks.
