Moist Esports – Documentary Proposal and treatment

PROPOSAL
For my documentary idea, I am planning to do a documentary of the professional esports
team – Moist Esports. Moist Esports is a professional esports team, most known for playing
the games Super Smash Bros and Rocket League, but while I said most known, that isn’t all
of the teams they have. For example, they have a Pro Splitgate team, a pro Apex Legends
team, and professional players for the games BrawlHalla and Guilty Gear Strive. Like I said
before the main 2 games I will be focusing on for this documentary is Super Smash Bros and
Rocket League.

The equipment I am going to use is nothing. For this documentary I don’t need any cameras
as all the information and clips/videos I am going to use can be found online. The software I
am going to use is premier pro, but I am hoping to create some custom transitions and text
in after-effects. I am going to find a video downloader and download a bunch of the videos I
need to use.

For My interviews, I do plan to reach out to players of moist esports and see if I get a
response. If I manage to get a response, I do plan to record an interview with them and ask
questions like how they were signed to the team, what’s it like playing for moist esports,
and what do you think of moist esports as an esports team. This is only if I manage to get
one of the players to respond though, which I am not hopeful for but would be nice to get. I
could maybe interview fans of moist esports. Maybe with questions like “what do you think
of moist esports as a professional team” or “who is your favourite moist esports players”.

If I can’t get any interviews with the pro players, I plan on interviewing Nat Coates and Finn
Spence-Grime, who are both in my college class and play rocket league quite a lot, and know
about the RLCS.

TREATMENT
START
So, at the start of the documentary, I intend to do a quick montage of tournament wins,
with some background music and a voice over explaining who moist esports and explaining
the point of the documentary, which is the rise of moist esports.

Then after the intro is finished, I intend to list basic facts that people should know about
moist esports. For example, the date they formed, how they formed, and who was their first
ever player. All of which can be found in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=daAux8dOTRA&list=PLMwzVV570PDjLwp9AU7msBpiFxshSQ0Eb
The first person they ever signed was a super smash bros player called Kola. Kola won a
tournament previously hosted by the guy who made moist esports, Moist Critikal. So Moist
Critikal and Kola partnered up and would eventually make the team, what we know and love
called Moist Esports.
Then this should transition smoothly into their first ever tournament, which was called
Smash Ultimate Summit 3. This is then to be followed with more player signings, again with
the appropriate clips, good music, and a voice over.

THEIR FIRST MAJOR TOURNAMENT WIN AND OTHERS

This section, I plan to go over their first major tournament win. Before that though a plan to
explain what a “Major” tournament is. Then I intend to cover the major tournament win.
The tournament was called “Super Smash Con: Fall Fest”. I will do a quick explanation on
what Super Smash Con is.
I will explain what a double bracket is, as that is very important to this tournament win and
story. I will also explain why this tournament is so popular, as many of the top players like
the number 2 in the world and the number 3 in the world were attending, making it a
stacked tournament and certainly one that would be hard to win. The player won the
tournament is called Light, who signed to moist esports on September 15 th, 2021. I will
explain how this put them into the limelight as smash con was one of the biggest
tournaments of the year because it was once of the first tournaments to be played offline
since lockdown hit.

ADVANCING INTO ROCKET LEAGUE

In this section, I will state how moist esports got into the rocket league esports scene. They
didn’t start off with a pro team, instead they signed a rocket league content creator. His
name was Rizzo, and he is an ex-pro turned content creator, and is one of the most loved
rocket league players in the community. He signed with moist esports on the 19 th of
February 2022. This would tell the community that something big is coming and the possible
hint that moist esports could soon be getting a rocket league team.

I would then turn the attention from moist esports to a rocket league team called team
queso. I would explain how they came 2nd in the latest LAN major for rocket league. I would
then say how they were soon realized by team queso and were looking for a team. This is
where moist esports come into play and swoop up the old team queso roster, signing the
team for moist esports. This would finish their entry into rocket league as they now have a
full team instead of just 1 content creator.

THEIR BIGGEST WIN YET

This is about Moist Esports’ biggest win yet. This section would be about how they won the
biggest rocket league tournament of the year so far. This was called the Spring Split Major
and was the final Major of the season until the world championship. It was the most stacked
tournament so far of the season and all eyes were on 2 teams. Moist esports, who under
team queso came 2nd in the last split major, which was the winter split, and G2 Who won the
last split major.
I will explain how the tournament works. It is a double elimination tournament, which
means you must lose 2 sets of games in a row to be out of the tournament. I will say how
they went down to the loser’s bracket in round 2. I will say how they had to climb back to
the top, eventually winning the grand finals and the whole event.

INTERVIEWS NOW
The 2 people I will be interviewing about moist esports is 2 people from my college class,
Nat Coates, and Finn Spence-Grime. Both of these two are avid rocket league players, and
know about the RLCS and its history, making them perfect for my interviews as they will
know a lot about the current scene and moist esports. Both of them taking a different
approach to their interviews, like how Nat will view the RLCS from a coach standpoint,
whereas Finn will view it from a Fan’s standpoint.
THEIR CURRENT FORM AND POSITION
I will be honest in this section and say they aren’t performing the best, at the current
moment, but with many major tournaments to come, moist esports will certainly be one of
the favourites to watch throughout the tournaments. Recently they placed 2 nd in one of the
biggest tournaments of the year, which was the RLCS Fall major which happened in
decemeber of 2022. Then I will end the video off with the credits, where I got the footage
from and what songs I used as background songs during the documentary itself.

FOOTAGE USED
All of the footage I am going to be using can be found online. A lot of this footage is going to
include VODS of livestreams of the live matches. I am going to be using a lot of footage from
the Youtuber Penguinz0 as he is the person who created moist esports, so I will be ripping a
load of videos and footage from his youtube channel.
2nd, there is a youtube channel called VGBootcamp. This is where I will find all of the VODS
for Super Smash con fall fest, which means I can get the videos from there to use in my
documentary for my section on Moist Esport’s first major win.
Finally for the rocket league sections, I will get the VODS for the matches from the official
Rocket League Esports channel, as it will have the VODS I need for this documentary.
A lot of the images I used have come from liquidpedia, a gaming site much like wikipedia,
except designed specifically for games. The 2 I used would have been the Smash wiki, and
the rocket league Wiki, both of which can be found here.
