T: So let's start our topic for today's video. Our topic is all about Introduction to
Industrial Arts with 3 subtopics we have the industrial arts, the industrial revolution
and lastly is the Philippine industrial arts curriculum. First I will read to you our
learning objectives,
Okay Let's move on to the next topic which is the industrial revolution. We have 4th
industrial revolution, the first is steam in the year 1760-1820, 2nd is electricity year
1820-1900, 3rd is computing in the year 1900s, and lastly is intelligence year today's
generation. Industrial revolution is a period in which machines bring significant
changes to the people’s way of life especially in the area of manufacturing. First
Industrial Revolution used water and steam power to mechanize production. The
Second used electric power to create mass production. The Third used electronics
and information technology to automate production and the Fourth is building on
the digital revolution that has been occurring since the middle of the last century. At
the World Economic Forum in January 2015, German Chancellor Angela Merkel,
discussed Industry 4.0 to describe the computerization of manufacturing regarded as
the fourth industrial revolution.
Last topic is all about the Philippine industrial arts curriculum. In an article written by
Darwin Palmero, he insisted that Industrial plays an important value to the Philippine
Education. The article entitled Industrial Arts as part of curriculum. Industrial Arts
has an important role to play as part of general education in our modern society. The
development of technology resulted to many machines in the industry. Industrial
Arts is an educational program which features fabrication of objects in wood or
metal using a variety of hand, power, or machine tools. Industrial Arts offers the
student an opportunity to acquire some insight into various technical and trade
areas. These insights are important so they can have skills that will be applicable and
will be used for labor while studying. The curriculum nowadays aims to give chance
to the students to continuous studying while they have the chances or opportunities
to work. The leanings they will have in class will be carry-over value in later life.
