Dear Roberto Clemente Families, I am extremely excited to welcome you to Roberto Clemente Leadership Academy 2022- 2023 school year! Our coaches and staff are working through the summer to prepare rigorous lessons to ensure that our students meet their individual reading and math goals. We are also working to provide your students with exciting, engaging learning activities. As a HOT school with arts infused instruction, your students will have the experience of working with talented CT artists who will teach spoken word, dance, architecture and more. Our traveling band will be back in session as well! Our award-winning art teacher is looking forward to providing unique art instruction. We will also have an outdoor learning partnership with Common Ground. Code Haven will be working in connection with our technology teacher and library media specialist who will also lead our students in broadcast journalism. The Family Youth and Engagement Department will continue to support our Sports Academy A.C.T.I.V.E. Chess and sports programming. Parents, I strongly encourage you to stay in contact with your students’ teachers. Communication and collaboration are key to a successful school year. Read the emails, Class Dojo, text messages, google classroom notifications, Parentlink messages, and check your students’ PowerSchool reports. Parent conferences (November 16th) and Open house meetings (September 21st) are a great way to meet with teachers to learn ways to support your students’ growth and development. We plan to have a very active PTO, so stay tuned for more information. We are a Uniform school! Students are required to wear tan khaki pants or skirts and black polo shirts. Students are not allowed to wear hoodies or coats in the building and this rule is strictly enforced. You can order a polo shirt with the Clemente Logo and/or a fleece jacket by calling 475-220-7600 for more information. Our mandatory orientation is scheduled on Tuesday, August 23rd at 9:30 am and 5:00 pm. You will receive important information about procedures and forms that need to be filled out. The first day of school is August 29, 2022. I look forward to seeing you. If you have questions, please call 475-220-7600. Thank you, Mia Duff, Principal
