Let Us READ and STUDY

Please read the following lesson excerpts.

Ethics

OVERVIEW OF ETHICS

• “Ethics” comes from the Greek word ethos, meaning character,

or “a character way of acting”.
• Ethics is the study of the moral behavior, or conduct of man as
viewed from ultimate principles insofar as these principles are
known by human reason.
• Briefly, Ethics is a philosophical science dealing with the
morality of the human act.

IMPORTANCE/PURPOSE OF ETHICS:

1. Guides the intellect in the acquisition and application of

moral principles.
2. Points out the right to living, just as the signposts on the
road indicate the right direction to a place, but it also
compels man to follow the directions to his ultimate destiny.
3. Guides the will in its search for what is good.
