Hi friends i am niharika and today we are gonna look at these confusing adverbs still yet and
already a pretty simple however we do get confused when we have to use it right so in this lesson
we are going to look at the difference we're going to learn how to use these adverbs correctly so
we're going to start with the adverb still now still is used uh for an action or a situation which
continues to present something which is not finished okay so still is used for an action okay so it
continues to the present it indicates that something is not finished yet and in fact it also refers to
something which is known a little longer than expected now to understand this better we are
going to look at some examples here the first example is do you still live with your parents okay so
probably you expected that he may or she may have moved out but it's a kind of a question for
you wherein you end up using still to understand that whether till present he or she is living with
her parents okay his or her parents so do you still live with your parents okay so that's exactly the
reason why you have used the adverb still now always remember uh the adverb still will be always
in a middle of a sentence okay and it would be always followed by a verb or at times even followed
by an adjective okay so it's going to be always okay so most of the times it's always followed by a
verb but at times it's also followed by an adjective now let's look at another example here it is still
raining so you know you want to go out and you see that it hasn't stopped raining yet so you
would say oh it is still raining okay so because it is still happening

okay it's been continued right and that's why you have used the adverb still the next one i took
two pills but i still have a headache okay now here again you're using the adverb still the reason
because the two pills that you popped in has not really helped you were having a headache and
you still have a headache so it is still being continued to the present okay so that's why you are
using the adverb still so hope this is clear to you now let's understand when do we use the adverb
yet now yet is always used for questions or for negative sentences

okay so it's used for it's used in questions or for negative sentences but why do we use yet well yet
so um something that we expect to happen or when we expect something that has happened okay
okay so it's when you're expecting something to have to happen or has happened that is when you
end up using the adverb yet now to understand this let's look at the examples here the first one is
they haven't met her yet so it's quite a negative sentence if you see they haven't met her yet right
that's exactly the reason we end up using the adverb yet now remember most of the times the
adverb yet comes at the end of the sentence okay so it's all most of the times but you should also
make a note of this that the word or the adverb yet is always used in present perfect

okay so uh probably we can think of a question because as i mentioned that the adverb yet is
commonly used for questions or for negative sentences so uh let's think of an example uh using
yet as a question um haven't they paid yet okay so it's kind of negative and also it's a question so
haven't they paid yet okay so you are asking and

And you're expecting that they might have paid or they have to pay and that's why you are using
the adverb yet at the end of a sentence okay uh let's look at another one here uh we still don't
know who will be our new boss well the owners haven't told us yet so again uh it's used in a very
negative way because the owners haven't told us yet but if you observe in this sentence we have
ended up using the word still and we have ended up using the word yet so both of these adverbs
are used together in a sentence now when do we use this well when some action is being
continued and when you want to give a reason to it that why it has been continued that is when
you end up using yet okay and still together so if you look at the sentence here we still don't know
who will be our new boss so you still don't know you till present you just have no idea who would
be your new boss now you want to give a reason to why you don't know that who would be a new
boss well it's because the owners haven't told us yet okay so that is when you have ended up using
the adverb yet so to explain why the action is being continued you tend to use yet in a sentence
okay so hope still and yet is clear to you now let's look at the adverb already now let's understand
when do we use the adverb already well we use the adverb already to talk about things that have
happened sooner than expected okay so something that happens much sooner than what you
expected that is when you end up using already now also make a note that you use already or with
present perfect or past perfect

Okay and another thing that you need to make a note of is that already um goes usually in the
middle of a sentence or at the end now how to use it well let's look at the examples here to
understand this she's fixed it already so probably you wanted something probably it was your
phone that you wanted it to be fixed but then you realize that your friend fixed it for you already
so it happened much sooner than you expected it to be right so that is when you end up using the
adverb already now let's look at another example have you bought already met so again you have
used the adverb already now probably you are introducing your boyfriend to your friend and then
you realize that they have met already so well they introdu they have been introduced before
maybe by someone else but they have met much before than you expected them to be right so
that is why you end up using the adverb already now we also use the adverb already to indicate
surprise like it's 12 o'clock already okay so here you're pretty surprised maybe you wanted to leave
from work or probably you wanted to leave a party about 10 o'clock but now when you saw the
clock you see that it's 12. so you are so surprised here and that is why you end up using the adverb
already it's 12 o'clock already okay so that's how you use this now this brings me to the end of this

simples, sin embargo, nos confundimos cuando tenemos que usarlos correctamente, así que en
esta lección vamos a ver la diferencia que vamos a hacer. para aprender a usar estos adverbios
correctamente, vamos a comenzar con el adverbio still now still se usa uh para una acción o una
situación que continúa presentando algo que no está terminado okay so still se usa para una
acción okay so it continúa hasta el presente indica que algo aún no está terminado y de hecho
también se refiere a algo que se sabe un poco más de lo esperado ahora para entender esto mejor
vamos a ver algunos ejemplos aquí el primer ejemplo es ¿todavía vives? con tus padres bien, así
que probablemente esperabas que él o ella se hubiera mudado, pero es una especie de pregunta
para ti en la que terminas usando todavía para entender si hasta el presente él o ella está viviendo
con sus padres, ¿está bien? o sus padres, ¿sigues viviendo con tus padres? De acuerdo, esa es
exactamente la razón por la que usaste el adverbio todavía, ahora siempre recuerda, el adverbio
todavía estará siempre en medio de una oración, está bien, y siempre será seguido por un verbo. o
a veces incluso seguido de un adjetivo okay entonces va a estar siempre bien entonces la mayoría
de las veces siempre va seguido de un verbo, pero a veces también va seguido de un adjetivo
ahora veamos otro ejemplo aquí todavía está lloviendo así que ya sabes quieres salir y ves que
todavía no ha parado de llover entonces dirías oh, todavía está lloviendo bien, entonces porque
todavía está pasando

está bien, ha continuado bien y es por eso que usaste el adverbio todavía el siguiente tomé dos
pastillas pero todavía tengo dolor de cabeza está bien ahora aquí otra vez estás usando el adverbio
todavía la razón porque las dos pastillas que pusiste no han realmente te ayudó tenías dolor de
cabeza y todavía tienes dolor de cabeza, por lo que continúa hasta el presente, está bien, es por
eso que estás usando el adverbio todavía, así que espero que esto te quede claro ahora,
entendamos cuándo usamos el adverbio todavía ahora yet siempre se usa para preguntas o para
oraciones negativas

está bien, entonces se usa para preguntas o para oraciones negativas, pero ¿por qué usamos
todavía bien todavía algo que esperamos que suceda o cuando esperamos que algo haya sucedido
está bien está bien entonces es cuando esperas que algo tenga que suceder sucedió o ha sucedido
ahí es cuando terminas usando el adverbio todavía ahora para entender esto veamos los ejemplos
aquí el primero es que todavía no la han conocido así que es una oración bastante negativa si ves
que no la han conocido sin embargo, esa es exactamente la razón por la que terminamos usando
el adverbio pero ahora recuerda que la mayoría de las veces el adverbio todavía viene al final de la
oración, está bien, es la mayoría de las veces, pero también debes tomar nota de esto que la
palabra o el adverbio yet siempre se usa en presente perfecto

bueno, probablemente podamos pensar en una pregunta porque, como mencioné, el adverbio
todavía se usa comúnmente para preguntas o para oraciones negativas, así que pensemos en un
ejemplo usando todavía como una pregunta, todavía no han pagado, está bien, entonces es algo
negativo y también es una pregunta, así que aún no han pagado, está bien, así que estás
preguntando y

Y esperas que hayan pagado o que tengan que pagar y es por eso que estás usando el adverbio
todavía al final de una oración, está bien, veamos otro aquí, todavía no sabemos quién será
nuestro nuevo. jefe, bueno, los propietarios aún no nos lo han dicho, así que nuevamente, se usa
de una manera muy negativa porque los propietarios aún no nos lo han dicho, pero si observa en
esta oración, hemos terminado usando la palabra todavía y hemos terminado usando la palabra
todavía así que ambos adverbios se usan juntos en una oración ahora, ¿cuándo usamos esto bien
cuando se está realizando alguna acción?

quién sería tu nuevo jefe ahora quieres dar una razón de por qué no sabes quién sería un nuevo
jefe bueno es porque los dueños no lo han dicho us yet okay entonces es cuando terminaste
usando el adverbio yet así que para explicar por qué la acción continúa tiendes a usar yet en una
oración okay so hope still and yet es claro para ti ahora veamos el adverbio ya ahora entendamos
cuando usamos el adverbio ya bueno usamos el adverbio ya para hablar de cosas que sucedieron
antes de lo esperado está bien entonces algo que sucede mucho antes de lo que esperabas es
cuando terminas usando ya ahora también toma nota de que usas ya o con presente perfecto o
pasado perfecto

De acuerdo, y otra cosa que debes tener en cuenta es que ya, um, generalmente va en medio de
una oración o al final, ahora cómo usarlo bien, veamos los ejemplos aquí para entender esto, ella
ya lo arregló, así que probablemente tú quería algo probablemente era tu teléfono que querías
que lo arreglaran, pero luego te das cuenta de que tu amigo ya lo arregló, así que sucedió mucho
antes de lo que esperabas, así que es cuando terminas usando el adverbio ya ahora veamos otro
ejemplo ¿has comprado ya se conocieron? entonces otra vez has usado el adverbio ya ahora
probablemente le estás presentando a tu novio a tu amigo y luego te das cuenta de que ya se han

antes de lo que esperabas que tuvieran razón, por eso terminas usando el adverbio ya ahora
también usamos el adverbio ya para indicar sorpresa como si ya fueran las 12 en punto, así que
aquí tienes Estás bastante sorprendido tal vez querías salir del trabajo o probablemente querías
salir de una fiesta como a las 10 pero ahora cuando viste el reloj ves que son las 12. entonces estás
tan sorprendido aquí y por eso terminas usando el adverbio ya son las 12 en punto ya está bien,
así es como usas esto ahora esto me lleva al final de esta lección ahora es el momento de probar
