0 ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS, COVERAGE AND ELIGIBILITY

IRR 1.1 The 2018 Accountancy Week Academic League is composed of the following competitions

 Basic Accounting
 Business Law and Taxation

IRR 1.2 The table shows the topics covered for each Academic Quiz Bee and who are eligible to join
each academic competition:

IRR 2.0 QUALIFICATIONS
IRR 2.1 The competitions in 2018 Accountancy Week Academic League is open for application to
Accountancy or Accounting students who are bona fide members of the Iloilo Federation of
Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (IFJPIA) FY 2018-2019.

IRR 2.2 Each contestant shall be given the privilege to join a maximum of two (2) academic events in
the 2018 Accountancy Week Academic League.

IRR 2.3 Each Local Chapter may only send one (1) team consists of at most three qualified
participants for Wrath of Feeling Majors; two (2) separate teams with three (3)
members for Financial Accounting and Reporting Quiz Bowl; two (2) separate teams with
maximum of three (3) members for Basic Accounting Quiz Bowl; and two (2) separate
participants for BLT Quiz Bowl.

IRR 2.4 For those schools who will not be able to comply the required participants in the Basic
Accounting will get the lowest score of the participating team as their score.

IRR 3.0 REQUIREMENTS

IRR 3.1 Each Local Chapter, thru the Local Chapter’s Vice President for Academic Affairs must fill up
the endorsement and certification form to be provided by the IFJPIA Vice President for
Academic Affairs.

IRR 3.2 This is to certify that those students written in the form are the official representatives of
their respective local chapter, signed by the Local Chapter’s Vice President for Academic
Affairs AND Local Chapter President. Electronic signature is acceptable.

IRR 3.3 A photo OR a scanned copy of the participant’s school identification card AND the duly
accomplished endorsement and certification form shall be sent to
alarbajessafloujieanne@gmail.com on or before July 9, 2018.

The file name format to be used shall be

IRR 3.4 Change of contestants for any of the Academic Events shall be allowed, provided that it shall
be properly communicated to the IFJPIA Vice President for Academic Affairs at least two (2)
days before the competition proper AND an updated endorsement and certification form
must be sent. The filename of the updated format to be used shall be

IRR 3.5 Change of participants one (1) day before the competition will no longer be entertained
except, if the reason is acceptable. (For example: medical health issues).

RR 3.4 Change of contestants ON the day of the competition will disqualify his/her team
and can longer participate in the quiz bowl they’ll be joining.

IRR 4.0 GENERAL CONTEST RULES


IRR 4.1 Contestants are advised to be at the designated place at least 30 minutes before the time
schedule.

IRR 4.2 Contestant must be properly registered and sign the separate attendance sheet for
participants of the Academic League before proceeding to the competition proper.
As the quiz bowl starts, any team member or participants who are still not registered at the
required time (as provided in the schedule), shall be considered disqualified.

IRR 4.3 Late contestants are still allowed to join the competition. However, he/she shall no longer
be allowed to answer the questions he/she have missed. For every ten (10) minutes late,
five (5) points will be deducted to the total points of the team/participant.

IRR 4.4 The Standing Committee for Academic Affairs shall be composed of selected IFJPIA officers
and will also serve as the monitoring personnel and questionnaire distributors (QD).

IRR 4.5 Any member of the IFJPIA Council for FY 2018-2019 shall be vested with the power to give
sanction to any contestant he/she have witnessed violating any of the said provision in this
IRR.

IRR 4.6 The contestant should write their answers clearly and legibly on the provided answer
boards. The contestants will raise their answers immediately when the time ends. Failure
to do so will invalidate their answer and will not be counted.

IRR 4.7 Abbreviations are highly discouraged to be used.

IRR 4.8 Contestants who shall insist in writing the answers ambiguously abbreviated or illegibly
may still claim points for correct answers only upon the discretion of the panel of judges of
the IFJPIA Vice President for Academics.

IRR 4.9 The contestants are the only persons who have vested rights to raise concern, protest,
and/or clarification. Questions raised regarding the number will only be recognized.

IRR 4.10 One (1) Arbiter shall be a Certified Public Accountant for the purpose of giving an
intelligent and independent decision for each quiz bee (Financial Accounting and
Reporting, Basic Accounting and BLT).

IRR 4.11 For any clarifications for complains that may arise, the word of the arbiter shall be final
and irrevocable. Any question raised shall limit to a 5-minute discussion only to protect
the proceedings of the time of the contest.

IRR 4.12 The Arbiter’s decision is final and irrevocable.

IRR 4.13 Any contestant caught cheating is a violation and shall be considered disqualified in the
competition and shall not be allowed to participate in any succeeding academic event in
the Academic League.

IRR 4.14 Questionnaires will be distributed among the contestants after the 7-second time
allotment for protest/clarification. It will be place face-down and the contestant can only
flip the questionnaire after the quizmaster says the word “FLIP”. Contestants can only
manipulate their calculators after they have flipped the questionnaire.

IRR 4.15 The allotted time for answering (which will be discussed in IRR 5.2) will start from the time
the quizmaster says “GO!”.

IRR 4.16 Contestants must raise their boards the moment the quizmaster says the words “BOARDS
UP”. Late boards signify late answers, and late answers are will not be accepted.

IRR 4.17 Before proceeding to the next question, an allotted time of seven (7) seconds is given to
the contestants for them to decide whether they want to raise a protest/clarification, to
request for new marker, ball pen or scratch paper, to change their calculator if it
malfunctions, or other concerns. After the allotted time has elapsed the quizmaster shall
start reading the next question. No more protest, clarification or concerns will be
entertained.

IRR 4.18 With boards still up, the contestants MUST NOT ERASE their answers during the 7-second
time allotment for validation.

IRR 4.19 Contestants who violates certain provisions for the first time, a warning shall be given.
The 2nd time shall be given sanction of accumulating only 50% of his total score garnered
in all rounds. Violation of the provision for the 3rd time shall mean disqualification of the
contestant.

IRR 4.20 All theory questions and problems requiring computations will be read twice.

IRR 5.0 CONTEST RULES & MECHANICS


IRR 5.1 The Academic League is composed of four (4) quiz bee, three of which is related to
accounting subjects, in the actual CPA board examination.

IRR 5.2 These quiz bowls are composed of three (3) rounds, the EASY, AVERAGE and DIFFICULT.

IRR 5.3 In the Wrath of Feeling Majors, only the top three (3) teams with the highest points in the
Easy and Average round will proceed to the Difficult round.

IRR 5.3 The top three (3) contestants/teams accumulating the highest shall be declared as the 1st
place, 2nd place, and 3rd place respectively.
