How do you think a business should be socially responsible?

As TED Manwani, H. (2014) remarks, socially responsible companies place special emphasis on:
reducing the negative environmental footprint generated by their products and operations. In
addition to being socially committed to supporting social projects that benefit the economically
disadvantaged. As well as making internal changes that generate employee loyalty by optimizing
their working conditions, boosting their well-being and promoting best practices in corporate ethics.

Do you agree with Mr. Manwani’s idea of the 4th G?

Yes, I agree. The idea of the 4th G is quite appealing as it talks about the responsibilty part in a
business alongwith the other factors like consisitency, competitiveness and profitabilty and
Mr.Manwani rightly said that the responsibilty part is a big thing in conducting business and that
small acts can make big difference in society.
Social responsibilty does not mean doing extraordinary things just doing the things that one is doing
in an efficient manner. When a business is socially responsible and think about small things like
making a produc which will use less water to wash clothes or to cook some semi cooked food can
save a lot of water if the consolidated effect is taken into account and by doing these little things a
businss will lead to ethical practices of conducting business.

How does social responsibility lead to an ethical business?

Globalization has contributed to the awakening of the conscience of many consumers who, when
choosing products or services, value companies that publicly demonstrate their concern for
environmental and social issues. As part of this trend, there are already many investors who do not
only use financial criteria to evaluate a stock, but also the public image of the corporation or brand
in question.

CSR is aimed at the development of companies committed to society, through competitiveness and
productivity, which not only takes into account results, but also the way in which they are obtained,
in the form of reputation, ethics, the trust they generate and, in short, the external perception of the
attractiveness of the company and, in addition, of the country in which it operates

If you were the CEO of the agricultural company Monsanto how would you implement the 4th
G?

Monsanto is an agricultural company the best an agricultural company can do is to adopt

sustainable agrigultural practices which will reduce the green house gasses and will help in
protecting the environment. The main idea is to create value and purpose and by providing the
best agricultural products with sustainable practices the 4th G can be easily implemented.

Further CSR measures such as doing charitable work increasing the CSR budget would satisfy the
society needs. Also creating employment and paying good remuneration would satisfy the
employees and by creating jobs in the society in which it operates and contributing in economy by
increasing the crop yield all of this would be fulfilling the needs of the society as well.

In addition, research a company that is socially responsible. Explain how this company is socially
responsible and give justification.

PEPSICO, is a socially responsible company.
