EIGHTH DISCUSSANT - THE GLOBAL CITY

In the eighth topic in Midterm which is “The Global City”, discussed by Ms. Eborde and Ms.
Alegre, last Friday. I have learn a lot regarding the definition of the topic which it refers to the an urban
center that enjoys significant competitive advantages and that serves as a hub within a globalized
economic system. Also, the concept of global city, indicators of global city, characteristics of global city
including the examples, and they also explain each challenges of the global city which has big influence
in globalization. The three Global cities which are considered as the engine of globalization: New York,
Tokyo, London (including the business activity, information exchange, and cultural activity of the city).
The discussants really did their best to delivered the topic and they obtain the lesson objectives in a
better way of presenting. Congratulations!

NINTH DISCUSSANT - GLOBAL DEMOGRAPHY

For the ninth discussants which topic discussed the“Global Demography”. Ms. Abuyo and Ms.
Tagala, obtain their lesson objectives in a good explanatory and elaborated ideas for us to more
understand their topic. I have learned a lot about the definition of Demography which means  the
statistical study of human populations. Demography examines the size, structure, and movements of
populations over space and time. The indicators of global demography which are urbanization and
industrialization. Together with the person who has its own concept with regards to the population
growth, the recommendations which are chemical castration, policy oriented, monetary incentives, and
institution-building. Also the population growth and food security of different country. All in all, they did
it very well. Congratulations!
