I. Title: Planning for a Health Career

II. Learning Competencies: Discusses the components and steps


in making a personal health career plan. (H10PC-IVa-b-1) and
prepare a personal health career following the prescribed

III. Instructions: This activity sheet focuses on discussing the


components and steps in making a personal health career plan
and preparing a personal health career following the
prescribed components and steps.

Guide:
 Health careers are getting important nowadays because of
the abundance of health care-related works. People are
becoming more health conscious and they put health as a
priority in their lives.
 Five (5) Health career pathways:
a. Therapeutic Services-also considered as “hand’s-on
patient care”.
b. Diagnostic Services-involves the use of technology.
c. Support Services-responsible for keeping a clean and
sanitary hospital.
d. Biotechnology Research and Development- contributes the
advancement of healthcare through science & technology.
e. Health Informatics- includes documentation services,
medical

record management, hospital unit
coordination, hospital information, and
communication system.
 Public health addresses health concerns of communities at
risk for disease and injury.
 Primary tasks of public health:
1. Assesses and monitor the health of communities.
2. Formulate public policies.
3. Assure that all populations have access to appropriate
and cost-effective care.
 Career opportunities related to public health:
1. Public Health Practice
2. Health Education involves in educating people about
health.
3. Epidemiology
4. Environmental Health is a field of science that studies how
the environment influences human health and disease.
5. International Health
6. Maternal and Child Health is concerned with the health of
women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum
period. It also includes other health concerns like family
planning and preconception care, prenatal and postnatal
care that help reduce illnesses and death of women due
to childbirth.
7. Nutrition
8. Health Services Administration

 Mental health practitioners are professionals who are


trained to help patients who have mental and emotional
problems and illnesses. They can be psychologists,
psychiatrists, professional counselors, clinical social workers,
etc.
