INTRODUCTION
Along the rapidly developed technology, internet has become a crucial thing in our
daily life. There is involvement of internet in almost everything nowadays, whether it is in
business, entertainment, education etc. This further prove just how powerful and useful
internet have evolved throughout the years. However, in the amidst of countless benefits of
internet, there is a dark and dangerous to side to it that can cause serious harm to the users if
no precautions are taken. Therefore, it is important to spread awareness regarding the
dangerous of the internet so no innocent people will fall victim to these dangers. As the
phrase “prevention is better than cure”, it is better to take precaution steps than fixing the
damage that has been inflicted.

Hence, for the SULAM project, my group decided to do conduct a talk regarding
cyber safety as nowadays cyber technology has been important tools in our life. This talk was
held on 6 December 2022 and was delivered using the video uploaded on YouTube. The
community involved in this program is elementary school students from 4 Permata and 5
Permata that was currently studying in Sekolah Kebangsaan Puncak Alam. The number of
students that was involved in this talk is 40 person which 20 person from each class. This
community was specifically chosen because early education regarding cyber security is
needed as youngsters nowadays was exposed to modern technology such as internet at such a
young age. Due to their young age and innocent mind, these children can be an easy target for
cybercrime, therefore, by spreading awareness to them, unfortunate and unwanted event can
be avoided.

For youngsters, internet is a new discovery for them, so they are more inclined to
explore the vast world of cyberspace. They will likely to be more interested in the
entertainment of the internet but sometimes, this discovery can lead them to discover the dark
side of the internet without their knowledge. Therefore, early education is a crucial
knowledge that was needed to be implemented so they are aware and careful of the internet.
From this, the objective of this program was focused on delivering this knowledge to the
youngsters and teaching them precautions steps to not fall victim to cyber danger.

PREPARATION
In the first stage of preparation for this talk, 4 students were assembled to formed a
group of 4 four as instructed from the lecturer. Discussion was held by our group to choose a
suitable community to conduct this talk. After through discussion, we unanimously agreed to
choose student from 4 Permata and 5 Permata that currently studying as Sekolah Kebangsaan
Puncak Alam. Task the task was divided evenly between our group member such as video
editing, contacting the school superiors for permission, making google form and conducting
research for the video content, to ensure that the planning and preparation was going
smoothly.

We decided to contact the principal of the school first-hand to inform them of our
intention to conduct a talk with 2 of their class and ask for permission. After informing them
of the objective and details of the program, we get a clearance from the principal but first we
need to wait for official letter from UiTM that was prepared by our lecturer before we can
proceed with the program. Once we received the letter, we immediately sent the letter to the
principal and proceed to contact the homeroom teacher of 4 and 5 Permata to discuss the
details and set a date for the talk to be held which is 6 December 2022.

We then proceed with the preparation of the video for the talk. We decided to use
Canva as medium to make and edit our slide and Adobe Premier pro to edit our video. Once
the video was done, we proceed to upload the video on YouTube before sharing the link of
both our video and google form for feedback to the teacher in charge of the class.

The research that has been done to make this program happen is by looking up videos
on YouTube about cyber security to get a better understanding on how to deliver our point for
it to be easy for elementary school students to understand. We also look for websites and
articles online regarding the cyber security to increase our knowledge in this topic that we
will be presenting to the students.

Skills that were used to efficiently enhance our work is editing skills which is needed
for us to produce an interesting and informative video for children that will not bore them
out. Other than that, skills that also needed for this project is speaking skills. This skill is
needed to be able to deliver our knowledge effectively and does not bore our audience.
Appearing confident while talking is also an important skill that help enhancing our program
to be more interesting and engaging for the elementary school children.

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
In this project, the most interesting activities is the short quiz that was done at the end
of our video. There are several simple questions that was asked in order to test the
understanding of our audience and include a short explanation video for each answer. The
students can click on the answer and it will lead them to a the short video. We do this quiz in
hope of keeping the students engaged throughout the whole program and deepened their
understanding of this topics.

The safety and health awareness that was shared in the video consist of the dangers of
internet and precautions steps that can be taken to avoid from falling victim to cybercrime.
There were 4 points that was discussed in this talk. The first point is the importance of
creating a strong password for your accounts to ensure that your accounts is not easily
hacked. Next, an individual should not easily expose their private information on social
media because some people might use this information with bad intention. There is some
information that should not be revealed to other people and should be kept to ourselves for
our own safety. Other than that, it is important to be aware of suspicious strangers from
online platform and should not be too trusting as we have no idea of their real identity.
Lastly, the fourth point discussed is not clicking any suspicious links and only used websites
that was approved by the government.

In order to ensure that this knowledge reached our target audience and ensure their
understanding, we decided to use Bahasa Melayu while giving the talk as it is the national
language of Malaysia. It is easier to understand because Bahasa Melayu is our mother tongue,
and we use it in our everyday life. I also make sure to talk confidently and in a cheerful
intonation as to not bore our audience and make it more enjoyable for the children to watch.
Other than that, we decided to use less words and more picture and animation in our
presentation to make it more interesting and easier to understand. We realized that in this
program, we will be giving talk to children, therefore we must make it enjoyable and fun
while also keep the children engaged and interested in our talk.

From this program, we were able to identify a few areas that can be improved to make
the program run more smoothly. The first is we need to make sure to talk in a louder and
clear voice as some of us talk in a clear voice and some of use a really soft voice while giving
the talk that it almost drowned in the background music. It is important to use talk in
appealing and clear voice as it helps keeping the audience attention to listen what we are

delivering. In addition, I should be more passionate while giving the talk as it keep the
audience more engaged and not bored while watching our video. After all, passion is
contagious especially when we ourselves enjoy and believe in the work we do. Besides that,
it seems that the knowledge delivered by us was known by most of the participant therefore,
we should be more creative and deliver knowledge that they don’t know.

There are a few knowledge I have gained from the community while conducting this
program such as speaking skills as this program requires me to give a talk to an outside
community about a chosen topic. This has force me to step out of my comfort zone and
trained me to be more confident in the eyes of the public. Other than that, I also gained new
experience on how to manage a program with an outside community from the beginning to
end by ourselves. From contacting the principal for permission until the end of the program,
we managed to handle it successfully with cooperation from the school and nice teamwork
between our team members. I’m starting to understand the planning and preparation that goes
behind the scenes for a program conducted to be a success, thus causing me be more
appreciative of event planner for their hard work.

FEEDBACK ANALYSIS

The pie chart above shows the result of the testing the understanding of the student
who participate in our program. 95% of student who participate in our program have an initial
knowledge regarding cyber security while another 5% make up of students who knows and
uncertain. After the program, 97.5% of student have understand what cyber security is and
4.5% didn’t gained knowledge from the video. To conclude, the knowledge we try deliver to
the community is already known and only a small part of the community gained new
knowledge from our talk.

The next pie chart shows the result of the level of awareness among participant after
joining our program. From this, we can see that 97.5% of participant have gained the
awareness of how important to be careful in online platform while another 4.5 is still not
having a clear awareness. Moreover, 90% of people who gain awareness decided to apply the
knowledge in the video in their daily life while another 10% decide not to and uncertain.

From this, it is safe to say that the objective of this talk already been achieved as most of the
participants will used this knowledge to ensure their safety.

Next, the pie chart shows the quality of the video produce by our team and from the
result shown 80% of participant rated the quality of our audio and visual on the scale of 3
which is the highest and 15% on the scale of 2 with 5% on one which means the quality of
our video is bad. Other than that, 34% of participant find that our video is very easy to
understand while the other 12.5% participant rated our video on the scale of 2 as they find it
moderate and 2.5% rated our video on the scale of 1.

And lastly, the graph above shows the rating of our efficiency while presenting our
point in the video. 80% out of 100% participant have rated our presenters with the scale of 3
which is the highest while the other 20% participant have rated our presenters on the scale of
2 which is moderate.

CONCLUSION
As a conclusion, despite the difficulties we faced while preparing this talk, it is safe to
say that this program is a success. It is indeed an experience that will stay with me for a long
time. Initially, I was very nervous as this is the first time, I will be involved directly in
planning a program with an outside community. I was doubtful that I can pull this off
successfully but, in the end, it worked out really fine with the effort from every member of
my team. I’m really glad that I was given the chance to conduct this program as I learned a
lot of things and gained new experiences that I’m sure will be very helpful for the future.
Moreover, I want to express my gratitude to the people from the school which is the
principal, teachers and students of 4 and 5 Permata that help us in conducting the program as
this program will not run smoothly without cooperation on their part.
