Angeles City, located in the Philippine province of Pampanga, is regarded as

a first-class, highly urbanized city that serves as a tourism promoter in the

country. It is bounded to the north by Mabalacat, to the east by Mexico, to the
southeast by San Fernando, to the south by Bacolor, and to the southwest
and west by Porac.Angeles is served by the Diosdado Macapagal
International Airport, which is part of the Clark Freeport Zone (formerly Clark
Air Base) and is located in the city's northern territory. As the former site of the
largest US military facility outside of the continental US, it was severely
impacted by the base pullout caused by Mount Pinatubo's eruption in 1991, as
Angeles' economy was heavily reliant on the American base at the

There are some issues in the city and one of it is that the Angeles City
government is working out for promoting gastronomic treats (Carbungco,
2021). Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. says that the tourism industry has been the
hardest hit by the pandemic, resulting the city government prioritizing the
tourism industry to recover from the pandemic, whereas it is also part of their
program. Maximizing the use of social media to post regularly for giving them
knowledge about the city’s historic places and food industry. Plans to
strengthen its tourism industry by offering visitors an array of native foods and
delicacies that originated in this city and nearby areas of Pampanga. Mayor
Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said that he wants to enliven tourism in the city, and one
effective way that can attract more tourists is to offer native Angeleños food.
Mayor Lazatin goes on to say that gourmet or culinary tourism will give a
boost to the failing food economy caused by the global coronavirus pandemic.
Lazatin stated that the city government is preparing for when the Inter-Agency
Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases allows full
operation of the tourism industry, or when things finally settle down after the
pandemic. Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel stated that they have
coordinated with Angeles City Tourism Office to manage and iron out safety
protocols of the different food establishments here. Food, along with climate,
scenery, and lodging, is an important factor for today’s travelers when
deciding where to go next.

According to Lacap (2019). With the growing interest in food tourism or

gastronomic tourism, as well as the importance of local food in destination
value (Chen & Huang, 2019; Everett & Aitchison, 2008; Everett & Slocum,
2013; Sims, 2009), this study provides a deeper understanding of the effects
of food-related motivation, local food involvement, and food satisfaction on
destination loyalty. Angeles city,As a food destination, it provides local dishes
and cuisines that can be incorporated into the city's strategic tourism
marketing campaign. According to the findings, all of the identified factors -
food-related motivation, local food involvement, and food satisfaction -
contribute to tourist loyalty in a destination. These findings show that tourists,
both domestic and foreign, are more likely to return to Angeles City after
sampling local cuisine, participating in food-related activities, and having a
positive experience.This factor also reinforces tourists' food motivation, which
improves their level of food satisfaction. Presenting local food and its
importance to the destination's culture and history, as well as developing food-
related activities centered on local dishes, will result in a positive experience
for tourists visiting Angeles City.
