Club Notes

President Amy Jernigan called Meeting to order: Flag Salute by Rotarian Chuck Reynolds and Invocation by Rotarian Larry Bradley, with special comment for our Long Term Waitress Tami and her retirement as it was her last day this meeting. Table Introductions: Rotarian Sal Rodriquez potential Guests awaiting. Rotarian John Dahlmeier deferred to Rotarian John Hancock who introduced John Galiea Butte College. John proudly announced his 11th Grandchild for Hancock on Friday $100 to foundation. Rotarian John Loue, Proposed new member Bruce Spangler, Rotarian Jerry Smith introduced Harold Wilson with proper description as Assistant District Governor and Sunrise Club member Guest. Rotarian Lisa Delaby introduced returning member Rotarian Lorenda Spencer. Rotarian James Plummer Anniversary and awaiting new baby arrival, 4 years, Rotarian Sam Chimento announced 36 years, Rotarian Mike & Becky Smith 24 years, Rotarian Rick Reichenbach and wife Martha wedded bliss of 66 years. $66 a year recognition assigned by President Amy. Award Winner, Rick mentioned he understands the marriage license has not expired so far! Rick described his family has 4 generations all born here in Oroville. Lorinda Spencer Rotarians with Birthdays this month: Rocky Nolan, Nancy Ritchie, Lisa Delaby, Eric Almquist, Mitch Brown, all with $5 recognitions. Larry Bradley lead a great Happy Birthday Song for celebrating Rotarians. Question: How many rotarians grew up in Oroville 11 raised hands this meeting. Recognition: Rotarian Lorenda Spencer $20 Recognition on business Banking with Robobank, since August year of many changes original crew an staff members smooth transitions. New Systems up and running for Banking Services. Nice things to happen for the community. Recognition: Andy Dunn $20 Recognition Secretary of Noon Rotary Assoc. Superintendent challenging times for schools as we are all aware. Upcoming new members review. Get Well cards for Lou and Don cards on medical work. Keith Updated us on Lou foot and ankle surgery successful an off foot for 4 months. Doing well. Past President Mitch Brown presented Awards to last year achievements Lorinda Spencer, Lisa Delaby Public Relations, Eric Almquist Community service, Mike Spanfelner Vocational Service, Andy Dunn Sec. Pen & Pencil set.

Rotarian David Pittman filled in for a late cancelled program due to medical reasons for planned guest speaker. Oroville City Councilman Pittman presented a discussion on the recently contracted Buxton Report by the Oroville Redevelopment Agency for the business community of Oroville. Information brochures were passed out and members were instructed to study the information back in their offices and stores. The report will be a comprehensive detailed report of the Oroville Market area customer preferences with the hope of improving the business climate with prosperity for all. The complete report is expected within 60 days and work has begun by the contractor. Thanks to the membership many good questions were asked and a great exchange of ideas and information was delivered. Members were looking forward to the report.

Program

Councilman Pittman also passed out the announcement of the partnership showing for the State Theatre Cars 2 show on August 27, 2011. The local Feather River Cinema and City of Oroville are offering the facility and movie. Many other business are planning to participate with vehicles, novelties, car show, bounce house and other attractions. Service clubs are encouraged to sponsor ticket sales to support youth groups to participate in the old show house as a conclusion to summer get together. Grandchildren are good candidates for the show times. Encouraging folks to downtown to use the restaurants and mobile food providers and other businesses in the area for the event. Recognition: President Amy presented our long time waitress Tami with special comments on her long service to this club, special items for kids at Xmas Dinner and all the special things she did for us. She was greeted with a spontaneous standing applause for job Well Done. The fine collection basket was passed about in special Thanks to Tami. Enjoy your retirement It is well earned!!! Roadway Cleanup dates to plan for: August 20 & Nov. 19 Road Feb. 18, Road Cleanup May 19, August 18 Road Cleanup Next Meeting: RYE student Kayla Benson will be here to talk about her Exchange trip.
