NEXT MEETING JULY 23, NOON

Program: Brother

Dominic Berardelli, Saint Marys College

fiscal health of our town is now sound due in large part to Measure K (which received more than 70% of the vote). The town now has a $6.6million capital improvement budget! $2.6million goes to fixing the streets and storm drains; $3.2million to rebuild the Canyon Road bridge to make it much safer; the headwall at Laguna Creek by the Hacienda is going to be fixed; and they have $800,000 allotted for a variety of other capital improvement! With the balanced budget, they have raised employee salaries by 2% which is really just a modest increase of $100,000 in payroll. Not bad! Theyve put in place a more affordable pension plan. Back to the issue of repairing the streets, the main streets of Moraga are available to highway funds and Measure K is only for the purpose of repairing roads and storm drains. Giving the people of Moraga what they are asking for! And heres a piece of information that is definitely positive: the Moraga housing market is up over 6% which is higher than Lafayette and Orinda, just a tidbit for some friendly rivalry.
