SUBJECT CODE
SUBJECT NAME

*Please keep in mind the essay format:

Font: Times New Roman
Size: 12
Text alignment: Justify
Line spacing: 2.0 (double-spacing)
 Not including the cover page and
reference, the essay, containing
introduction, the five points, and
conclusion, should be around 8-11
pages.
1.0 Introduction

[Introduction should only be one paragraph, at most two paragraphs. The introduction

must contain (1) a very brief and general background on topic, and (2) like a pre-

summary, the essay must outline WHAT IS GOING TO BE DISCUSSED.]

An Example of the introduction paragraph should look like this:

“This essay discusses about (assignment title). In this essay, the points discussed are

(point 1 and point 2). In addition, this essay also discusses (the other points).”
2.0 Contents

2.1 Point 1 sub-title

2.2 Point 2 sub-title

2.3 Point 3 sub-title

2.4 Point 4 sub-title

2.5 Point 5 sub-title

*One point must contain 3 to 4 paragraphs, and each point should reach one page.

*Start a new point in a new page, and each point must have their own sub-title as

displayed above.

*Each paragraph must have a citation. This is important. Failure to show citation

means plagiarism, and marks will be deducted. References at the end of the assignment are

not citation. Please show at the end of each paragraph your citation.

For example:

The Sultan of Kelantan, Long Senik Mulut Merah, died in 1886 and was replaced by Long

Sulong or Sultan Ahmed (Mohd Isa Othman, 2002)

*To cite, the general rule is:

Book (Name of author, year of publication). e.g. (Mohd Isa Othman, 2002)
Article in Journal (name of author, year of publication) e.g. (Singaravelu, 1981)
Article in Magazine (name of author, month and year of publication) e.g. (Nordhaus,
November 2018)
Newspaper (Name of newspaper, date of newspaper) e.g. (New Straits Times, 12 February
2020)
Blog (Blog Title, date of posting) e.g. (Chedet Blog, 31 August 2008)
Website (Website title, date of posting) e.g. (World History Encyclopedia, 13 November
2012)
Youtube video (Name of Uploader, date of upload) e.g. (CrashCourse, 10 February 2012)
*Check full information of each citation in reference section after conclusion
3.0 Conclusion

The conclusion must summarise what has been discussed in the essay. DO NOT put

any new information in the conclusion. The conclusion only needs one paragraph.

An example on how to write a conclusion:

“In conclusion, this essay has discussed about (title of assignment). It has discussed (point 1

and 2). It has also discussed about (the other points).”

*Since the conclusion only summarises the essay, there is no need for citation.
References

References should be the list of books, articles, newspapers, or blogs students used when

writing the essay. DO NOT put in references you did not use for in the essay. There is no

need for padding.

Separate the sources according to type.
