CASE STORY TITLE: No Read, No Write: Story of Mang Deolito

Conflict Identification
Mang Deolito did not finish his formal education during his youth because of his family's financial
situation and his need to enter the workforce early in order to survive. As a result, he is unable to
learn the fundamental skills of reading and writing. Social problems of this kind are nothing new
in the Philippines. Due to financial constraints, many people still struggle to complete their
education. As a result, a person might be denied a lot of chances just because they don't meet
the requirements or have the required reading comprehension abilities.

Plan of Action
The department of education is in charge of managing national educational issues and standards.
The tax, which is used to fund the country's achievements, might also be able to help with more
fundamental issues like the lack of educational opportunities. Scholarships, government funding,
and lowering tuition costs for those who cannot afford it are the most significant changes I can
envision occurring to lower the number of people lacking a high school diploma. The majority of
people who have never attended school do so because they lack the resources to support any
kind of education. As a result, with the assistance of the government, they can significantly help
those in need, enabling them to take advantage of a variety of opportunities that will allow them
to appropriately pay taxes to the country in the long run.

Reflection
I came to the conclusion after reading the text that I realized that financial problems are the root
of the lack of access to education. Going back to the beginning of the narrative, it is clear that
Deolito's parents did not complete a formal education, which contributed to their family's
financial difficulties and their inability to pay for Mang Deolito to attend school. It has been
demonstrated to the audience by this story that those who did not complete high school are not
intransigent; rather, they lack fundamental financial literacy and must begin working at a young
age.
