Hello good afternoon class, let me introduce myself : my name is Dinda Rhomadhona
Ayuningtyas. And I came from Boyolali.
Thank you for your participation and your permission for leting me speaking in front of
you all. In this occasion I would like to tell you about two dimensional shapes. Before I start
to explain, you should know what is the definition of two dimensional shapes. Well, two
dimensional shapes is a shapes that only have two dimensions (such as width and weight)
and no thickness. A square, circle, triangle, rectangle, parallelogram, etc are two
dimensional shapes. Two Dimensional Shapes also known of “2D”.
A square are categorized as a 2D shapes because it only has width and weight. A
square is a 4-sided flat shape with straight sides where : all sides have equal lenght and
every interior angle is a right angle (90 o). To calculate the areas of the square is A=a2 – “a”
is the lenght of sides. And to calculate the circumference which is you need to sum all of the
sides or we can say the Circumference=4 a .
A triangle is 2D shapes which has a characteristic : a triangle has three sides and three
angles and the three angles always add to 180 o. There are three special names given to
triangles that tell how mmany sides (or angles) are equal. The first one is an Equilateral
Triangle – it has three equal sides and three equal angles, always 60 o. The second is
Isosceles Triangle – it has two equal sides and two equal angles. The last is Scalene Triangle
– it has no equal sides and no equal angles. But there is a special type of triangle, it is a right
triangle – it has a right angle (90 o). To calculate the area and circumference of triangle you
need to determine where is the “b” – it is the area along the base and “h” – it is the height
1
(measured at right angles to the base). The Area is A= x b x h . well, this formula works for
2
all triangle.
A circle is another 2D shape, but it has difference appearence of another 2D shapes
because it has no width or weight. To calculate the areas and circumference of the circle
you need wheter radius or diameter. Well, the radius is the distance from the center
outwards. And the diameter goes straight across the circle, through the center. So we can
say that the diameter is twice the radius. And how to calculate the areas of the circle? The

area’s formula of the circle is A=π r 2 or if we use the diameter it could be A= ( π4 ) x D .

How about the circumference? The formula of circle’s circumference is C=2 π r or if we use
the diameter it could be C=πD .
