Past Tense
Simple Past Tense
Subject + V2 + Object
Adverb of time:
Yesterday, last night, just now last week, When + simple past
last year, two days ago, etc.
 Menyatakan suatu peristiwa yang 
terjadi pada masa lalu dan sudah
selesai pada waktu yang spesifik.
Contoh:
I watched a gorgeous movie last night.
 Menyatakan kebiasaan pada masa 
lampau yang sudah tidak menjadi
kebiasaan pada masa sekarang.
Contoh:
I played violin when I was in high
school.
Past Perfect Tense
Subject + had + V3 + Object
Adverb of time:
By the time, before, after, as soon as, just, Before
already
 Menyatakan suatu perbuatan yang 
sudah terjadi sebelum peristiwa lain
terjadi di masa lalu.
Contoh:
After Sofie had finished her work, she
went to lunch.
We were too late, the train had gone.
I had studied English before I entered
Junior High School.
Past Continuous Tense
Subject + was/were + V-ing + Object
Adverb of time:
While + past continuous
Menyatakan peristiwa yang sedang
berlangsung di masa lampau.
Contoh:
I was playing game when Mega came
to my house.
Menyatakan dua kejadian yang
berlangsung di masa lampau.
While mother was cooking, father was
cleaning the house.
Past Perfect Continuous Tense
Subject + had + been + V-ing + Object
Adverb of time:
Menyatakan suatu peristiwa yang
dimulai pada masa lampau dan masih
berlangsung sampai peristiwa lain
terjadi di masa lampau.
Contoh:
Alan had been playing cricket for 18
years before he retired.
Jack had been living in Sydney since
2010 before he moved to Melbourne.
She had been waiting for 2 hours
before you finally came.
