Subject: Wet Spell over northwest India during 29th-30th January, 2023
Weather observed on 29 Jan till 1730 hrs IST of today:
The maximum temperatures have increased by in the range of 2-4°C at many
parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh. It is at the range of 20-25degC over these areas. The rise in temperature due to change in wind pattern, higher moisture and cloud conditions over parts of this region. Approaching new WD which is now over Iran also affecting the temperature. Max temp today at Delhi SFD is 23.8degC- highest in this month of Jan 2023.
Forecast and Warnings (refer Warning map in Page 2)
A WD lies over Iran and likely move towards northwest India and intensify during 29-30 Jan. Under its influence, wet spell with light to moderate rainfall spell likely over northwest India with Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall very likely over Kashmir and HP, Uttarakhand on 29th & 30th January 2023. Strong Surface Winds 20-30 kmph likely to prevail over northwest India on 29th January, 2023. Delhi also likely to experience very light to light rainfall at a few places on 29th Jan with higher chances during evening/night
Temperature Forecast and Fog Warning:
Due to approach of this active WD, minimum temperatures likely to remain
warmer by 3-5 deg C during 29-20 Jan compared to today, the 28th Jan over many parts of Northwest India and then fall by 2-4 deg C thereafter, during 31 Jan-1 Feb. No cold wave conditions during the period till 1 Feb 2023. No major significant weather over other parts of India.
