1. What motivated us to do the study?

- Browsing through different social media platforms, we noticed that society

strongly opposes it. The one that caught our attention was breaking the stigma of
women's sole purpose to have a child.
- Many influencers like Angel Dei and many more have shared their perspective
and decision with regard to giving birth. So we wanted to give light to the
experiences and we wanted to have a deeper understanding of the reasons for their
choices. To make it more interesting, we chose to explore the lived experience of
women who are already married to gain insight into such a phenomenon.
- And also, we have relatives and

2. Contribution of your study?

- First, in order to gain a better understanding of the reasons for these women
because despite being married, they choose to remain child-free.
- Second, to raise awareness, through this study we will be able to inform other
people about the reasons for women who choose to be childfree to prevent
judgment and enlighten the minds of those who are closed off to such ideas.
- Third, to break the stigma, the Philippines has a culture of believing that a
woman's purpose is to bear a child which becomes a pronatalist ideology that goes
beyond the boundaries of the social and the cultural norms of the society, we want
to break the gender stereotypes.
- Lastly, this study will be the voice of several married women who choose to turn
away from the norm to express their experiences and assure them that their
reasons and motives are rational.

3. What makes your study unique?

- There has been a lot of comprehensive research on childfree choices among
women in different countries but there is little to none that has done an in-depth
study regarding these phenomena and provided a framework for exploring the
lived experiences of Filipino married women who choose to remain childfree.

- And also because when we were researching related literature, we noticed that
there is limited local research on this topic. This shows that this issue has not been
given attention because a lot of people are sensitive with regard to this topic.

- Also, it's a rare topic for people to talk about, which makes it hard for people to
get used to the idea, that being a woman is not all about motherhood.
4. Why do you think that society or families are pressuring married women to have
children/ start a family?
- because of the influence of Christianity, the fixed ideology pa a society marriage
is only about starting a family through bearing or having children. Because of
that, there were heavy expectations that were given to them and makes them
pressured as they are the center cause of starting a family.

5. Why did you choose this age range?

- We chose women ages 25-45 years old because based on the study by Watson
(2018), women are the most fertile and have the best chance of getting pregnant in
their 20s and so we wanted to ensure that their decision is completely voluntary
and that is based on their desire to be childfree and not on their physical abilities
or limitations to reproduce.

6. How do they define family, how do they define marriage, and what motivates them to get
married?
- Hindi po siya kasama sa scope namin because ang focus lang po ng study namin
is kung ano perception nila on having a child, the reason behind their decision on
being childfree, and kung ano yung mga struggles na-encounter nila.
(this research is going to answer this question because this study will help us understand them
better )

7. Qualifications of the Participants?

- First, participants should be married women.
- Second, they must be 20 to 35 years old.
- Third, they should be citizens residing in the Philippines.
- And these women should voluntarily choose to be child-free.

8. Consensual ba yung decision ng husband and wife to remain childfree?

- Yes,

9. Did you consider that as a factor or did that play as a factor in your study? -
- No, because our focus is only on VOLUNTARY CHILD-FREE CHOICES
AMONG FILIPINO MARRIED WOMEN. And not them as a couple
10. the enhancement of female career opportunities and boosting of contraception access
make it possible to be voluntarily childless.
- In this generation, there are more career-oriented women because for so long, men
have been given the title of breadwinner, and women are given the stereotypes of
being a housewife and not having a job, which belittles them and their
capabilities, so now they are career-oriented because they want to prove not just
themselves but others that they are more than that.
- Having a child means, they have to stay at home.
- Contraceptives are used to prevent pregnancies.

11. Why may Mothers role na theme, eh these women choose not to be mothers
- We came up with the main theme “Mother’s role” based on our research question
“What are the perceptions of Filipino married women about having a child?” -
- Mothers role was the best term we could think of to summarize the whole idea to
the questions regarding their perspective on being a mom, what they believe the
duties are of a mother, and the interaction between a mother and a child, so
overall it basically falls under the what they believe a mother should be hence
“Mothers role”

12. In a few sentences, can you tell us what your study is all about?
- Our study is about voluntary childfree Filipino married women, with the goal to
better understand their experiences and reasons and serve as the voice of these
women who choose to turn away from the societal norm.

13. the root cause of its taboo

- Because of the country’s history of having conservative culture and its uncertain
standard or old standard about women

14. Hayford argues that education can be linked to a desire to be child-free.

- There are usually wider situations na pwede natinng maiapply dito kasi it requires
deeper discussions regarding this question about the link of education and being
childfree pero giving an example po, based on statistic research that women who
receive better education and has higher education qualities are often to become
more goal oriented in life in regards to building their career.
