Introduction
For years I used to see my self as a lazy person. I
couldn't commit to a task and get it done!

Every time I was confronted with a task, I would

either delegate, run away from it or push it to a day
when I felt right to do it.

Truth is, it never feels right.

There is never a day I felt like going to the gym,

unless of course at the beginning of the year when
they'd be lots of people to chat and connect with at the
gym.

When there is fun and leisure attached to an activity I

find my self gravitating towards such activities.

01
Just Dey Play

Ironically days when if feels so difficult, hard and

mentally strenuous to watch video courses on a skill I
was learning or a professional program I applied for,

I find it very easy to watch a Tv series, rewatch a

football match on YouTube or engage in chats for
hours.

This is used to be my story and reality...... Does it

sound like yours? I bet it does.

Yet in the last two years I found a way to achieve my

goals irrespective of how lazy I felt. I achieved my
goals even as a supposed lazy person.

I’ve learnt three profitable skills in one year.

Graphics Design, Video Editing and Creative Writing.

02

I got an international job.
Made some good money from my business

I created an outstanding course on mastering and

achieving goals.
I became a consistent member of a gym and lots of
other great things I've been able to accomplish in 12
months.

I discovered something that changed me from been

lazy to a ruthless achiever and that is what I want to

CHAPTER 1
You Are Not Lazy
Laziness is a Mindset
You are not lazy!
You are not lazy!
You are not lazy!

You are not a lazy Person

You are not a lazy person
You are not a lazy person

I want you to put your right hands on your chest and

say this words loud and clear with a conviction.

I am not lazy!
I am not lazy!
I am not lazy!

Thank you for doing that exercise and affirming those

powerful words.

04
Just Dey Play

If you didn't do the exercise, I am guessing you didn't

do it for a very good reason.

You probably felt it was unnecessary

You probably felt who is this guy to tell me what to do
You probably felt even if I do it, would it work?
You probably felt, it's just talk, ordinary words so
there's no point doing it.
You probably said I will do it later

Did I guess right?

Could this be the reason you have termed yourself a

lazy person!

Anytime there is something to do, you usually have a

word, a thought or a feeling to not do it.
Laziness first exist in your mind.

05
Just Dey Play

You know what you should do, you have clear

instructions and direction on what to do but for some
reasons, valid most of the times you find yourself not
doing it.

This is not who you are, it is a Mindset Thing!

You know you should write more, advertise more,

study more, sell more, exercise more, create content
more, network more and read more.

On a certain day you determined you would read

come sun come rain but your mind found valid
reasons and legit activities why you shouldn't read at
the time.

There are ready made automated restrictions

programmed in your mind tackling whatever you want
to do!
06
Just Dey Play

Maybe it's to watch a short video YouTube video on

how to read a books
Maybe it is to sleep an extra 30mins so you'd have
enough strength before reading
Maybe it is to read when there's light
Maybe it is to call your partner just before reading so
you don't get distracted when you start.

At the end of the day, you end up not reading a

sentence in the book.

Could it be that you have practiced the habit of not

doing things you should do overtime and because of
this you have come to a conclusion of that you are
lazy.

Your mind have found a way to remind you how

you've not always done what you should do.

07
Just Dey Play

So instead of doing things you'd find excuses, you

would put it off, you would loose interest or you self
isolate.

This is what makes you exhibit laziness, it is not that

you are lazy!

If you were lazy, you won't be carrying this book In

your hands
If you were lazy, you won't go through the stress
downloading this book.
If you were lazy you won't even try to overcome it
If you were lazy you won't set goals or have
aspirations
If you were lazy it won't hurt you so much that you
aren't getting things done.

08
Just Dey Play

You are not lazy, you just want to have a feeling of

play and relaxation and excitement
You are not lazy, you just cannot kill yourself, stress
is not for you.

You are not lazy, You just want to stay in your

comfort zone more.
You are not lazy you just want to achieve a lot with
the least effort.

That is not a bad thing at all but before we go further I

have a question for you.

Are you comfortable with the current state of your life

and the result you are producing?

If your answer is No, turn to the next page....there's

something you should see.

CHAPTER TWO
Let's Deal With The Root
We have established that you are not lazy.... You are
not a lazy person but sincerely you exhibit some
characteristics of Laziness.

What are those things that makes you feel and behave
like a lazy person? You do this because of some
mental and psychological factors that is rooted in you.

Whenever a the branches or leaves of a tree is cut off,

for a while it feels like they are gone for good.

But then given the right nutrients and planted in the

right environment the branches and leaves starts to
grow again.

Once the tree is not uprooted from the roots it is only

a matter of time before the tree grows again.

5 Major Causes of Laziness

Knowing the root causes of laziness is important. This
will help you avoid the unpleasant habits and cut them
off from its roots.

1. Procrastination
One of the biggest signs people become lazy is
procrastination. Procrastination is the habit of
delaying tasks.

Lazy people exhaust every possible reason to delay

finishing a task.

Procrastination is an immense problem because it

makes things harder to do.

It also promotes laziness because you won’t be

motivated to work on the task just because it’s already
piled up.

11
Just Dey Play

2. Distractions
Another big factor that contributes to laziness is
distractions. You might have noticed your mind
wandering over unrelated things while working on a
task.

You just can’t work on something if you’re always

distracted because you always find other areas which
are more entertaining and easier

Unfortunately, these areas aren’t a great choice. They

just drain the productivity and ginger out of you.

3. Indecision
If you find yourself always contemplating on what to
do, you are never sure of which option to take unless
someone decided for you, then you are set yourself up
for failure.

12
Just Dey Play

You need to be decisive to become productive and

achieve your goals.

Many people can’t decide for themselves and they just

wait for others to decide for them. This leads to zero
motivation and laziness and failure.

4. Low Self Esteem and Limiting Beliefs

Limiting beliefs keep you in a negative state of mind,
hindering you from encountering new opportunities
and experiences while also damaging on your mental
health and productivity.

If you do not believe in yourself and know that you

can do anything as long as you have the skills,
mentors, and experiences then it would always be
difficult to get things done.

13
Just Dey Play

5. Fear
What usually happens is that you are too scared to try
things, that's why you just end up doing nothing.

You fear being rejected or failing. You fear leaving

the known for the unknown.

Fear promotes a timid, cowardly, anxious, reserved

and nonchalant behavior and it makes you lazy.

6. Sleep
Another common cause of laziness is the lack of sleep
and oversleeping.

You would have been an super achiever if not for

your excessive need for sleeping.

Oversleeping rubs you off your productivity, goals

and future. The longer your sleep the more there is to
catch up on.

14
Just Dey Play

7. Stress and Exhaustion

Never overwork yourself because this can lead to
laziness.

Being too tired just won’t get you anywhere because

you won’t have any energy to deal with certain tasks.

Being stressed drains the life out of you and you can’t
do any more work on your tasks.

You can’t even spend quality time doing the things

you love, which is very important for you to be happy.

You need to be productive so that we can be

successful in life and have a wonderful year.

Do a Self Assessment and a Soul Search

I know I'm not Lazy but which of these root causes is
the reason for me exhibiting laziness.

For some it would be just one, if you could eliminate

procrastination from your life, you would achieve
three times more than what you are currently
achieving.

For some it would be a combination of two or three

factors.

Maybe I didn't even mention yours. Write it down and

figure out a way to eliminate it.

In my book RUTHLESS EXECUTION there is a

whole chapter on HOW TO OVERCOME ANTI-
PRODUCTIVITY HABITS.

CHAPTER THREE
Set Goals
2016 I was a 200 level student at the brink of
dropping out of the university.

I had an abysmal CGPA of 1.9 with 8 failed courses,

studying the second most difficult course in the world
that I hated much (don't google) it is Physics..

My relationship with my dad had hit rock bottom, I

was also going through a terrible emotional pain from
a break up.
I was broke, I made an investment of over 300k that
went sour. I feel for MMM

Life was hard for a young man like me.

17
Just Dey Play

I stumbled on a Goal setting workshop flier

somewhere and I reluctantly decide to attend. It was
free.

I went late as usual, but I was early enough to meet

the first session on Setting Goals for Your Life.

I was hearing it for the first time and it made lots of

sense.

I cannot remember the rest of the topics but after the

workshop on my way home I bought the golden book
GOALS by Brian Tracy

This was the beginning of a transformation in my life.

Setting Goals actually changed my life.

In a short while my CGPA move from 1.9 - 3.4 still

studying the course I didn't like.

18
Just Dey Play

My relationship with my dad improved greatly, he

become my best friend.

I was on track living purposefully and following my

passion.

I got my professional life coaching certification

I Hosted a Conference as student, we fed over 300
students with snacks and drinks.

Setting Goals transformed a lazy unhappy boy into a

Certified Productivity and Goal setting Coach.

What are Goals

Goal are objectives you want to achieve. The simple act
of setting goals puts you in the top 10% of all people.
Think about how much you can do if you accomplish all
of the goals that you set for yourself.

Only about 3 out of 10 people set goals, of the three that

set goals only 1 go ahead to accomplish them.
19
Just Dey Play

How To Set Goals

1. Know What You Want
This sounds easy but it would surprise you that many
people are not clear what they want.

They move from wanting one thing to another because it

is trendy on in vouge. They do not have singularity of
purpose.

2. Write Them Down

Writing your goals down will help you keep track of
them, but the importance of this step goes far beyond
memory purposes.

Physically writing down your goals on a piece of paper

activates your subconscious mind in a way that will not
only help you remember your goals but also help you
prioritize them and highlight their importance in your
subconscious.

20
Just Dey Play

3. Set SMART Goals

Using the SMART approach is a great example to
achieve your important goals in life.
SMART is an acronym for:

1. Specific
Is your goal clear and simple? If it’s not then it will be
difficult to keep motivated and focus your effort towards
your set goals.

2. Measurable
Your goals should be measurable by the criteria you set
for yourself. If you have no criteria to assess your
progress, it will be very difficult to stay on track.

3. Attainable
For your goals to work, it has to be attainable, realistic
and achievable. Although it might be challenging and
require your skills to be improved, it still has to be
doable.

21
Just Dey Play

4. Relevant
Always look at the bigger picture when you’re goal-
setting. How relevant will it be and who would benefit
from it?

5. Time Bound
What is the time period you’ve decided to achieve your
dream? All tasks should have a deadline to help you
prioritize the things you need to complete your goals.

4. Have a Positive Mindset

When you are creating goals, remember to make sure
that they are positive.

This means that you focus on what you want to achieve

rather than what you want to avoid. For example, you
would write, “I will achieve a promotion.” rather than “I
will no longer work at this horrible job.”

22
Just Dey Play

Let's Put Goal Setting To Practice

So say you want to set a goal to save a certain amount.

Write the Goal (Goal) = “I WILL SAVE #200,000 A

YEAR FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS IN ORDER TO
PAY FOR A PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
COURSE .”

Now this goal is considered a SMART goal. Using a

SMART goals template will also help you see how each
criterion is being accounted for:

S (Specific) = You have designated a specific amount of

money you hope to save (#200,000).

M (Measurable) = You are able to track how much money

you’re putting away towards your goal (#20,000 every
month).

A (Achievable) = After accessing your financial situation,

you have deemed an appropriate and realistic amount.
23
Just Dey Play

R (Relevant) = Saving money will allow you to achieve

your goal of having a desired professional certification
that would advance your career.

T (Time-bound) = You have set a time frame for when you

should have #200,000 in savings (in 1 year).

I look forward to you setting your achievable goals

24
CHAPTER FOUR
Get Started Already
After doing the soul search I discovered I faced two
major problems, procrastination and Indecision.

I always felt I had more time and I always waited for

the right time to make a decision.

Tons of opportunities would pass me by, I missed

deadlines, canceled dates, went late for events and lots
of bads stuff just usually happens.

I was mostly under prepared for my presentations and

had lots of unattended messages on my WhatsApp
and mail box.

When I discovered the root causes for my

predicament I immediately into action.

25
Just Dey Play

I became a do it now person

It started with asking myself three questions.

1. Who Do I want To become? as opposed to what do
I want to achieve.

2. What Do I need to Do to become this person? As

supposed to what do I need to do to achieve this
objective.

3. What would the person I want to become do in this

situation?

Finding answers to these three questions and working

daily to realize the answers changed my life.

Who do you want to become? A poor overweight

frustrated and angry person with no friends or family?

26
Just Dey Play

I am guessing you choose the second option!

Next Question
What do you need to do become this person!

At this point you have a clear picture of the person

you want to become. It is not a wish, it is not an
aspirations or a goal, it is something you want and can
have!

What do you need to do daily to become this person!

If you still drown in laziness and all those negative

habits there is no way on earth you are not going to
become that person you want to be.

So you have to get up! See the picture of the you, you
want!
You have to tell yourself daily that you have what it
takes to become the person you want to be.

27
Just Dey Play

Next Question
If you wake up feeling tired, sluggish and lazy. You ask
yourself What would the Person I want to become
do?

Will he go back to bed to sleep some more or will he

jump out of bed and get shit done!

Will be shy away from challenges or will he give it

his best.

Will the person I want to become run away from

naysayers or will he prove them wrong!

Mentally positioning yourself in a way where you

have something bigger than you propelling you
towards your goals makes you achieve more than the
average person.

28
Just Dey Play

Take Risk and Don't Be Afraid to fail

The secret of life and success is to fall seven times and
to get up eight times.

Children have a lesson adults should learn, to not be

ashamed of failing, but to get up and try again.

Most of us adults are so afraid, so cautious, so 'safe,' and

therefore so shrinking and rigid and afraid that it is why
so many humans fail. Most middle-aged adults have
resigned themselves to failure because they are afraid of
failing.

It is impossible to live without failing at something

unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not
have lived at all, in which case you have failed by
default.

When you take risks, you learn that there will be times
when you succeed, and there will be times when you
fail, and both are equally important.
29
Just Dey Play

The secret is to getting ahead is getting started!

The secret to getting started is to do it now!
Get started Now!

Don't sleep wake up.

30
CHAPTER FIVE
Just Dey Play
Life is a game and we are all just players in the game
of life…

Football is the most followed sport in the world,

football is fun and entertaining yet it is a serious
trillion dollar business.

While what we see is a set of 22 players chasing a

round object, there is a system surrounding that game
that requires hard work, discipline, commitment and
professionalism.

Like every game or sport, there are two sides to life.

The winning side and the losing side.

31
Just Dey Play

The exception is that in life there is no middle ground.

Make everybody Just Dey Play, but anyhow you play,
make sure you play from the winning side and with the
winning team,

doing it, you need to love what you do and do what you
love.

makes it easier to get through the trials and tribulations
of work life.
