My warmest greetings to our beloved and ever adoring college president, Dr. Augie E.

Fuentes, to our
strenuous and multi-talented teachers, spectators, students, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant afternoon
to all.

Let me share to you a brief history. The predecessor of the United Nations was the League of Nations,
established in 1919, after World War I, under the Treaty of Versailles "to promote international
cooperation and to achieve peace and security." But as of 20 April 1946, the League of Nations ceased to
exist, having handed over all of its assets to the United Nations.

At present the very purpose of the existence of the United Nations is to preserve peace, advance justice,
and constitute a permanent structure for international co-operation. In other words, the United Nations
serves as a world forum to help countries work hand in hand to attain world peace and protect human
rights.

Today, we celebrate the very first United Nations Day. And so I would like to express my utmost
gratitude to the organizers of this celebration in the person of Mr. Jovanie Putong along with the Social
studies organization who made all the preparations and eventually made this activity a successful one.
Furthermore, I would like to highlight the great support of our college president, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes by
approving this activity thus making it become real. Lastly, to our dear students who enjoyably
participated in this activity; with them, this activity became even more festive and most importantly
purposeful.

To end my message, let me share some thoughts from the secretary-general of the United Nations in
one of his messages, “I encourage all nations and communities to redouble cooperation and build
bridges to achieve an equitable and sustainable future for all.”

So dearest students and fellow educators, let us foster a great and lasting relationship among ourselves.
As one DSSC, let us show the world, the universe rather, that we are united and that we share the same
goal in achieving an even more united nations for the betterment of the humanity. Let us all remember
that unity begins in a small community like of DSSC.

Thank you and God bless us all. Safe travels home. Once again, Happy UN Day to all of us.
