Storage and Handling of Envirolyte Hypochlorous acid (HCLO or anolyte)

formulations

These instructions should be followed to ensure our product remains stable in the long-term and to
guard against any change in the concentration (ppm), efficacy and purity of the Hypochlorous acid
content.
1. The product must not be exposed to sunlight or UV. Protect the Envirolyte HOCl from
light exposure at all times, as follows:
• Do not decant the product from the recommended (made of alkaline and acid
resistant material,i. e. PET, HDPE or similar) container, unless this is part of a
procedure to immediately apply to a wound or to irrigate an area.

• Do not transport the product in direct sunlight.
2. Non-transparent packaging material is indicated to protect the stability of the contained
Hypochlorous acid. The best type of packaging material is a coated glass as it has a high-
density and is also inert (does not react with the contents).
3. Never add anything to the product or mix it with or into anything else. The Hypochlorous
acid molecule is extremely fragile. This includes, but is not limited to, substances like
fragrance, other disinfectants, surfactants, acids or bases, solvents, colourants, nutrients,
plant material, metal, oil, minerals or any pesticide. If an ingredient or additive is to be
added to the product this MUST first be verified and tested in an laboratory to verify that
there is no impact to the stability of the HOCl in both the short and long term. Various tests
may be required.
4. Our products are made for specific applications in specific concentrations. Do not use a
product designed for a specific use for any another use.
5. Discard the product when the expiry date has passed. Discard any unused product 12 months
after opening the container or using the atomiser bottle or when expired.
6. The product must be stored at temperatures between 4 and 25°C. Short periods (a few hours
to a few days) of elevated temperatures (between 25 and 40°C) will not harm the product.
Please note: Stability of electrolyzed water (Hypochlorous acid or anolyte) is greatly impacted
by the quality of the source water and quality of the salt. The purer are water and salt- the
better stability is demonstrated by the electrolyzed water (anolyte). Ideally it is advised to use
RO water and extra purity salt.
On the top. The quality and stability of electrolyzed water can be affected by the
concentration of certain impurities. Trace metals such as nickel, cobalt and copper form
insoluble metal oxides, which cause the active chlorine to decompose catalytically. These trace
metals, as well as oxides and carbonates of iron, calcium and magnesium, form sediment and
may affect the electrolyzed water solution. All equipment in contact with active chlorine
solutions such as pipework, buffer tanks etc. should be free of those metals.
