gods were jealous of his popularity they sent Vamana as a dwarf to send him to the netherworld. In
the netherworld Vamana asked Mahabali for 3 feet of land. Since denying gifts from Brahmin is
sacrilege Mahabali agreed. In the first 2 feet Vamana measured the entire universe leaving no place
for him to place his third foot, to make up for this Mahabali offered his head for him to place his foot

Its a tradition in hindu culture to touch an elders foot, this is to take their blessings. Hinduists bow
down to their parents, grand parents, teachers and any other pious or revered human being as a
gesture of respect. The atharva veda ( rituals, medical or other practiced in the hinduist religion) says
that when you touch your elders feet you accept their knowledge and agree to pass along their
teachings to the next generations. They say that when your fingertips touch an elders feet a circle is
formed and energy is linked between the two bodies this increases cosmic energy making a quick
connect between peoples minds and hearts. This is the reason they feel positive vibes when they
receive elders’ blessings by touching their feet.
