Objectives:

Generally, this activity is to provide training on complementary feeding among the mothers and fathers of children with severe
and moderate acute malnutrition.

Specific objectives:
1) Educate at least 75% of the participants on the First 1000 Days;
2) Inform at least 75% of the participants on the concept of complementary feeding;
3) Prepare samples of complementary feedings for their children;
4) At least 75% of their children will have improved nutritional status.

Narrative of the Activity:

After the training workshop on TINAPAY, the KALINGA activity started with the overview discussion of the Project Leader
Ms. Rysheer P. Quiatchon. The participants answered a short pre-test and their scores are shown below:

Among the 26 participants, three got score of 7, two got score of 6, twelve got a score of 5, five got a score of 4, and four got a
score of 3. It can be shown that mostly are not yet familiar with important concepts about nutrition.

Faculty extensionist Ms. Rysheer P. Quiatchon discussed the lecture about Healthy and Nutritious Complementary Feeding.
Importance of complementary feeding and First 1000 days, Pinggang Pinoy and SDG Zero Hunger interventions were discussed.
Examples of complementary feeding were shown. This is an important part of first 1000 days as it generally improves the
nutritional status of children. After the lectures, a learning game was facilitated by Ms. Kristia Lei A. Reyes, asking questions
among the participants about what they have learned from the lectures. After the game, a post-test was answered by the
participants.

Three got score of 9, nine got a score of 8, eight got a score of 7, two got a score of 6, two got a score of 5, one got a score of 4,
and one got a score of 3.

The program ended with filling out of evaluation forms and closing remarks by Ms. Rochelle Anne S. Quinia, the Program Chair
of BS Nutrition and Dietetics and Assoc. Dean of CONAHS and messages from the Brgy. Nutrition Scholars were delivered.
Prizes were distributed to the winners, certificates were provided to all speakers and participants, and a photo-opportunity was
done.
