Hungarian breakfast consists of milk or tea, some cold cuts with a slice of bread, jam, honey
or eggs.
Lunch is the second meal of the day and people have it between 11 and 2 depending on
when they have a lunch break. People can have lunch:
In a canteen
in a self-service restaurant
in a fast-food restaurant
at a traditional first-class restaurant
at home.
Lunch consists of 3 courses. First comes the soup /clear, vegetables, meat, pea, bean, fruit/.
The second cure is either some meat/ pork, beef, chicken, fish/ with garnish / mashes potato,
chips, rice, salad/ . The third course is always a cake or ice-cream.
Hungarians take great pride in their traditional dishes. The Hungarian cuisine has a great
reputation and tourists like tasting our dishes. Hungarian goulash is world famous, but there
are many lesser-known specialities. We use a lot of paprika, fat and spices.
People can eat out in different kinds of restaurants. People choose a self-service restaurant
if they are in a hurry. You go into the restaurant and choose the dish from the list. Then you
pick up a tray, a knife, a fork , a spoon and a napkin and queue at the counter where you get
the food. You have to push it along a special rack till you reach the cashier. You pay and
then you take your tray to any table you like. It is fast and you don't buy a pig in a poke.
If people have time and money they go to a first -class restaurant. When you enter the
restaurant you look for a free table. Some people reserve the table in advance. You sit down
and ask the waiter for the menu. You can ask the waiter what he would recommend you.
After eating you call the waiter and pay the bill. You usually give a tip. The atmosphere is
good , there is oft music, the waiters are polite in a restaurant.
There are fast-food restaurants like Burger King, KFC or McDonald's. Here You can have a
snack quickly and it doesn't cost a fortune. Unfortunately they are often crowded and junk
food is considered unhealthy. They contain greasy, fatty red meat, artificial ingredients such
as: conservatives, taste accelerators, artificial colouring.
You are what you eat. I think it is true. Everything depends on a balanced diet. The balanced
diet is very important in our life. It means that you have to eat everything but you mustn't
eat much greasy and fatty food. You must eat a lot of vegetables. But if you eat only
vegetables, your immune system will be less resistant. I am convinced that the human body
needs protein which can be found in meat. You can't replace it with vegetable protein. Also
some amino acids are only in meat.
People shouldn't eat so many carbo-hydrates because they become fat in our body. So we
must avoid pasta, white bread, cookies, cakes, chocolate and other sugar-rich products.
Slimming diet is very good if you are really fat. Sometimes slim girls think that they are fat
and go on a diet. It can be very serious, and they can be anorexic. I thing moving and sports
are important.
