Healthy and unhealthy food

I think, nowadays, people eat a lot of unhealthy food. We don't often have time to sit down
and prepare healthy meals. We eat pre-packaged, take-away or junk food like pizza, French
fries, or frozen meals. We also eat a lot of chocolates, crisps and candies because these reduce
the appetite and they can be eaten quickly. Instead of them we should eat a lot of fruit and
vegetables, cook meals with less fat and spices. We have to make sure we drink enough liquid
and it should not be coffee or soft drinks, but water, milk and fruit juices.
Nowadays there are a lot of restaurants and take-away services which offer all kinds of food.
Fast food restaurants are considered less healthy, but lately, they offer salads and healthy
sandwiches as well. There are also specialized restaurants where you can find bio, vegetarian
and different national cuisines or the usual Hungarian specialities. Traditional restaurants are
mostly preferred by adults and elderly people who like the atmosphere and the service these
restaurants offer. Young people, on the other hand, like to eat junk food, and they go to fast
food restaurants like McDonalds, or to pizzerias and eateries in shopping centres. These
places are the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to get something to eat, not to mention the fact
that it's the usual place for meeting friends and socializing.
If you eat out, you can save a lot of time and energy. You don't have to go anywhere to buy
the ingredients such as vegetables, spices, rice, meat or fish. You don't have to spend time
preparing the dishes or washing up after a big family lunch. Everything is ready for you so
you can simply order the meals that you like.
On the other hand, eating in a restaurant is not always a nice experience. You prepare food
with great care at home and choose fresh ingredients but some restaurants don't buy fresh
stuff. It may happen that the owners want to make more profit so they buy low quality
ingredients. Another possible risk is if the dishes, cutlery, cups and bottles are not properly
cleaned. And of course eating out costs a lot of money, especially for a whole family.
Considering all these facts I prefer to eat at home. I like home cooked food. In my opinion, it
is healthier than eating out. But I also miss the socializing when we are at a restaurant, so I
would choose either of them any time.
