HEALTHY LIFESTYLE, HEALTHY EATS

HEALTHY EATING

In modern families, parents have less time than before, both parents work, so
they often buy and eat ready-made foods (készételeket). I think they can be
healthy (e.g. french fries), but mostly they are unhealthy. I think there are
families, who cook and eat at home on the weekends and families, who go to a
restaurant or McDonald's.

But there are people, who not only eat delicious food, but also always make sure
that they eat varied (változatos) and healthy food. If you want to live a healthy
life, you shouldn't eat so much meat, fatty and spicy dishes and drink too much
alcohol. You should eat lots of fruit, vegetables, dairy products and whole grain
(teljes kiőrlésű) bread and drink at least 2 liters of water or fruit juice per day.
Of course you should make sure that you always take a lot of vitamins, e.g.
dishes that are rich in vitamins. When cooking, you have to be careful to make
fewer dishes in oil. You can cook with butter instead of always cooking with
oil or fat. If you simmer (párol) the vegetables, it's very healthy I think.

In my opinion, regular mealtime is very important in our lives. You can also
drink fresh juices, fruit and herbal teas. I think you should avoid alcoholic
beverages (italok), because they are very harmful (ártalmas) to our body. The
body treats it like a toxin. You also have to do a lot of exercise to stay fit, for
example sports. It helps against stress, we can sleep better, when we move, we
have a better appetite and our blood circulation improves (javítja a vérkeringés).
When you exercise, you get a better immune system. You should always sleep
at least 7-8 hours to feel good.
FOOD SHOPPING

In the supermarket or in the shopping center there is a large selection

(választék) of different products. Customers can find everything under one roof.
The supermarket offers fresh goods and you can also buy news. There are
regular special offers (akció) or sales (kiárusítás), and the products are often
cheaper than in the center. They can even (akár) take part in competitions. There
are plenty of parking spaces available for customers at the supermarket. Here
you have no personal contact with the sellers. The supermarkets are far from the
city center, so they can only be reached by car. But there's always background
music there, which can be very irritating, I think.

In a supermarket you take a shopping cart, go through the shelves and put the
products in the cart. In the supermarket there are different departments
(osztályok), such as baked goods (croissants (kifli), bread, cakes, rolls), dairy
products (milk, yoghurt, butter, cream or sour cream), meat products (sausage,
salami, bacon (szalonna)), fruit, vegetables, drugstore goods, drinks, sweets,
non-perishable foods (tartós élelmiszerek  flour, oil, sugar, spices). We push
the shopping cart to the checkout, where there are often long queues. We pay
with credit card or cash, because it is more practical. Naturally we have year-
round availability products, such as strawberry, peaches, apricot, plum,
pumpkins and blueberrys (mostly vegetables and fruits). It means, that these
goods can be available only, when these have a season (e.g. summer for
strawberry, fall for pumpkins). I think usually these are more expensive than the
other products, because these are special.

UNHEALTHY EATING

We never read the ingredients. In modern families, parents have less time than
before, both parents work, so they often buy and eat ready-made products. I
think they can be healthy (e.g. french fries, schnitzel) but mostly they are
unhealthy. If you drink so much alcohol, smoke, eat a lot of unhealthy fast food,
we are talking about an unhealthy lifestyle. It's bad for the body and also bad for
the soul I think. You get sick if you're always too stressed about work and
school.

If you smoke, your teeth will turn yellow and you will get cancer of the mouth,
throat or lungs. And it's very smelly too, I think. Alcohol gives you pancreatic
(hasnyálmirigy) cancer. If you eat so much fatty and unhealthy food, you will
suffer from overweight and cardiovascular diseases (szív-és érrendszeri
megbetegedések) and you can also have a heart attack (szívroham). In addition
(továbbá), one must eat little sweets in order to have a healthy lifestyle.

FAST FOOD

American food is fatty and very unhealthy. Nowadays people like to eat in fast
food restaurants, because they are very modern and fast. These are popular,
because you don't have to wait as long for the food. Also, eating at fast food
chains is a trend. That's why so many young people like to eat there, but the
food is very unhealthy (hamburger, hot dog, various cakes, ice cream or pizza).
They contain so much sugar, fat, salt, that's why they are not so light. They eat
a lot of these foods, but after eating they quickly become hungry again. Also,
they contain so many harmful substances (anyagok) that make our bodies tell us
that we want to eat more and more of these foods. Later, these foods lead to
various diseases, such as overweight, cardiovascular disease and heart attack. I
think it's more eco-friendly, if you don't eat fast food because they're mostly
wrapped in plastic that you throw away after eating.

ORGANIC PRODUCTS

There are animal and plant products that are more environmentally friendly,
because they do not contain any harmful substances (antibiotics, sweeteners,
E-numbers, chemicals, hormones, artificial fertilizers (műtrágya)). If we buy
these products, then we protect the environment and help small businesses.
These are more expensive, but also tastier and healthier. I think it's a trend
abroad to buy organic products. But it's better for the animals and for the plants
too, I think. In stores we can find these foods with a heading. Organic food is
becoming more and more popular because it contains fewer chemicals and
hormones, which reduces the risk of various diseases. Because these things are
also harmful to us humans. If the animals are kept in humane conditions, fewer
animal diseases will occur, so the animals and people will become healthier.

Our food is fatter and spicier, I think. The specialties of Hungary are for
example goulash soup, meat soup, stuffed cabbage, pancake and letscho. The
british people don't eat so much meat like the Hungarian people. They drink
more beer and whiskey than we, however we also like to drink a lot of alcohol.
Our national drink is Pálnika. They have typical dishes such as Fish & Chips,
Toad in the hole (Yorkshire puding), Lemond curd (citromkrém), Steaks Welsh
cakes (vajas-mazsolás kekszek), Crumpet (lukacsos palacsinta). I think you eat a
lot of meat (sausage with sausage). They also really like dairy products such as
cheese, milk, yoghurt and quark.

I think that there are many table manners, which are very important to use. E.g.
If you’re eating, the you shouldn’t speak, because it’s disgusting to see what you
are eating right now and we can’t understand what you just want to say to us. Or
you should be know, when it’s rude to use your hands to eating something
(chicken). You must use your napkin (szalvéta) to remove food leftovers from
your face. Besides that rule you should be able to chewing dishes quietly. And
it’s impolite to eat too greedly.
