1. Is it actually right or wrong for him to steal the drug? Why is it right or wrong?
-My answer would be that since it is not illegal, stealing the medicine is the appropriate
course of action in this case. I believe that not stealing the medicine must be evaluated in the
same way. Given the details of the situation, neither of these actions can be seen as unethical. My
response wouldn't be scored on the Kohlberg scale because it heavily relies on a factual assertion
(that property rights are absurd), but it would likely be classified as post-convention

2. Does Heinz have a duty or obligation to steal the drug? Why or why not?
-Heinz does not, in my opinion, have a duty or obligation to steal the medication. We all
have a responsibility to help the wife's health in every manner we can, but Heinz is not required
to provide that support. I'll use an analogy I've used before: We acknowledge that individuals
have a right to be free from flames, but we don't compel everyone on the street to put out fires.
We are aware that putting out flames requires specialized training, therefore we make sure
professional firemen, not just anyone on the street, are qualified to accomplish it (in modern
times, anyway: standing around and passing buckets of water is another story).
So, I would say that there is no reason to make Heinz responsible for curing his wife. The
pharmacist has a duty to supply life-saving medications so that everyone who needs them can get
them. If anyone has a duty or obligation in this situation, it is the pharmacist (he is, after all, a
druggist). Whatever Heinz chooses to do is a matter of personal risk assessment and moral
assessment; it has nothing to do with obligations or duties.

3. If Heinz doesn’t love his wife, should he steal the drug for her? Does it make a
difference in what Heinz should do whether or not he loves his wife? Why or why not?
Here are some of my reasons why I said YES:
-Given that he is married to his wife legally, life preservation is crucial. Regardless of the
emotions involved, protecting the lives of individuals we care about or who are near to us is what
motivates us to take even extreme efforts to make sure they are secure, alive, and well. The only
thing he can think of because he lacks the financial resources to save his wife's life is to steal,
which is the best solution because saving a life is more important despite the potential drawbacks
and negative effects it may have.
- Forced to take action to save her wife's life. Even though theft is the only alternative, Heinz
would still do it to avoid feeling bad for not doing everything he could to save a life. Heinz's
conscience might not allow it if he refuses to take action to save his wife.
4. Is it important for people to do everything they can to save another’s life? Why or why
not?
-Yes especially if your job is a Doctor/Nurse you should save other people’s lives for the sake of
their loved ones. If you save other people’s lives you can help him/her to live longer.

5. In general, should people try to do everything they can to obey the law? Why or why
not?
- Yes, in general it is our responsibility to follow the law because it was properly created. The
requirements affected on people by the law are known as legal duties. Moral responsibility is the
sense of personal accountability people have in light of their moral convictions.
