Here’s the situation:

A woman was on her deathbed. There was only one drug that the doctors thought might save her.

The druggist that made that particular medicine sold it for ten times the price of the production

costs. The sick woman’s husband, Heinz, was poor and could not afford to buy the drug, not even

with the financial help of his friends. Heinz then asked the pharmacist to sell it to him for half the

price, but he refused. To save the life of his wife, Heinz broke into the man’s laboratory and stole

the medicine.

1. Should Heinz have stolen the drug?

-In my opinion, any one could do anything just for their loved ones. His act may not be morally right,
because it is stealing and I think that he should have at least tried to make or find a better and right way to
own or buy the drug instead of stealing it, such as selling appliances, clothes, sideline jobs., anything that
he could earn, but at the same time, if I were him or in his situation I think that I would not be able to
think right also. Because its ‘’ life or death’’ situation already and I don’t want to lose who I love the
most. So honestly I am torn between ‘’he should have stolen it’’and ‘’he should have not’’ because I do
not know what right thing to do anymore if I would experience such it discusses the idea about obeying
the low or saving the life of a loved ones, for me It’s hard to determine what would be more important.

2. Would it change anything if Heinz didn’t love his wife?

-Yes, I think that it would change anything if Heinz did not love his wife, if he did not, maybe he would
just accept the reality of life that we will all come in that kind of situation where we cannot control and
handle things anymore and just accept what will happen next. Maybe he would not be that desperate to
have the drug that will save his wife’s life and would not commit such act.

3. What if the person dying was not his wife, but a stranger?

-if the dying person was a stranger , I do not totally think that it would make a difference. Because it
could depend on Heinz if he is just really a good person who wants to save that dying person’s life or he
would just not care. However, I also think that he could have the interest person’s life, but not in a way
that he would take such big risk of stealing a drug from a chemist because he might realize that the dying
person is not even one of his loved ones so why bother to put himself in a shaky and complicated
situation.

4. Should the police arrest the druggist for murder if the wife had died?
-Yes, for me it is very important to do everything to save another life most especially if those people are
very close to you. It is not that you are obliged to do so, because you won’t feel the guilt and regret if
something doesn’t went, well because you know within you that you did everything . And I believe that
the worth of life is much more important than anything in this world.
