A lot of websites are circulating around the internet, spreading latest news to
satisfy their readers. I choose to evaluate the Rappler website to validate because the
founder of this website exposing lots of information about the government and the
politician. In order to validate this website, we have the following five criteria to evaluate
the web sources. First to evaluate is the accuracy. Rappler provide latest news
everyday but some of the news that they are publicizing are not accurate. The news is
based on the journalist’s investigation and biases. Although the news they provide is
free from errors when it comes to sentence construction and spelling. Authority is the
next to evaluate. The Rappler is founded by maria Ressa. She is a Filipino American
Journalist. She received the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize award. Rappler is a digital media
from a Facebook page, but later on became a website. Third is the objectivity, the aim
of this website is to trundle the freedom of expression exposing the abuse of power, use
of violence and growing authoritarianism in the Philippines. Fourth to evaluate is the
currency, Rappler provide up to date and latest news in the Philippines. Lastly is the
coverage, the main focus of the Rappler website is to provide the latest and trending
news in the Philippines, mostly the main topic focuses on the politics.
